Small tube amps...

Hi, Guys.

I was hoping that you guys can help me out here. I've mention before that I would like to remodel my gear. One of the things I would like to do is get a smaller amp. I'm looking at something around 20 watts or so. Tube if possible. Got any suggestions? I'm kinda looking for something inexpensive if possible.

Thanks.

I have a Kustom HV-30 that I like. Not the best amp I've heard, but not bad for the size or money. Tube preamp/ss power amp.

Re: Small tube amps...

what is 'inexpensive' to you? just wondering, because that differs from person to person. there are a number of 15-20w amps that seem to be pretty sweet, specifically from laney, orange, blackheart, etc. i haven't played through the blackheart amps, but they are getting rave reviews and are super cheap, especially on the bay.

Some of the things I've read on various sights on the net make it pretty vague as to whether the Blackhearts are indeed all tube. There seems to be at least a solid state overdrive. Does anyone here own one that could clarify?

I know the 5-watt version is tube pre and power. The rectifier is solid-state which is typical.

Egnater Rebel 20 looks like a nice little tube amp for a reasonable price. Sound clips I've heard are fantastic.

Re: Small tube amps...

I'm looking for one myself, my uncle uses a Fender Pro Junior, very small 10inch speaker but that can get over drums, he gigs it live. His style is blues but I had a jamming session with it (with a drummer) and ran a DS-1 trough it and it sounded amazing! (I play Satriani style).

It convinced me to trade my JSX for a Peavey Classic 50 and some pedals!!
