Re: So who's playing an Axe-FX?

1500 for the standard and 2000 for the ultra. The software upgrades are free and it is being improved constantly from user suggestions.I've owned so many tube amps over the years Ive probably spent that much on tubes alone.I'm not ditching my tube stuff yet.But I think the axe sounds good enough to do so.

I really want one but I know it will take me a long time to make the money. Would it really be worth it to go for the Ultra or should I slice the time earning the money and just get the standard? Hmmm decisions decisions lol

It's not even an option. In all cases like this, you have to go for the more expensive version, otherwise you will spend all your time wondering how much better it would have been

Re: So who's playing an Axe-FX?

most people who've bought the standard have sold it for the Ultra. More processor power and I thought it had quad chorus or multitap delay or something that the standard doesn't. Can't remember.

Here's a feature-by-feature comparison of the Standard and Ultra.

Re: So who's playing an Axe-FX?

After spending a few days with my axe fx standard, all I can say is wow! I'm seriously impressed.I'm running it with an art sl2 poweramp into a bogner 4/12 with vintage 30's.I can't wait to try the direct recording capabilities.

The nice thing about direct is you don't need any post effects/eqing. It's good enough as is. That blew my mind.

None of this is doing my attempts to fight off GAS any good at all!

Eh, the Axe-FX cures GAS, at least for amps, effects, and the like. Seriously. I don't even think about or look into any more gear like that.

Re: So who's playing an Axe-FX?

I already sold my custom audio head, engl thunder, egnater and gmajor.Nothing left to do but play and record.Yesterday I was at the studio and needed a nice clean sound with a little chorus and a hint of delay.A few button pushes and a twist of the knob and I had an awesome sound that fit the song perfectly.

Re: So who's playing an Axe-FX?

See this thread

http://www.jemsite.com/forums/f30/pl...x-94410-2.html

I understand the expense but in my case I bought this:
JCM800 2204 $500
2 ADA MP-1 preamps $1000 (heavily modded)
1 Digitech IPS-33B $225
1 G-Force $1100
1 ADA Microcab II cab sim $150
1 ISP ProRack G $225
TOTAL $2210

which is basically a couple hundred more than my Axe Ultra cost. So I sold everything and had enough to buy the Ultra. Never looked back.

Re: So who's playing an Axe-FX?

the axe-fx ultra is the best purchase i ever made, the x3 in the rack , is mainly a backup ,
and variax/ fbv longboard interface. the axe-fx ultra is worth the price.

my son seems to love it too !!!
