Soldano question

Are the SLO-100 and the Decatone similiar in lead tones? I want a SLO, but it won't really let you switch between rythm and clean and lead tones... so I was going to go with the decatone instead... any sugguestions?

Re: Soldano question

Wait so you want three channels? Clean, Distorted and Lead basically?

To answer your question I am really not sure, but I think the Decatone is supposed to be a more versitile SLO.

Re: Soldano question

DEcatones are more versatile. As for the SLO another option is the Peavey 5150. Eddie and Peavey virtually copied everything but the power tubes from the SLO100 into the 5150 or 6505 and it is about 1/3 as expensive and every bit as road worthy. Just a suggestion. Joshua

Re: Soldano question

But SLOs can get a tone that resembles cleans.

Re: Soldano question

Entirely true my friend. I also hate the 5150 cleans. The 5150-II is supposed to have a better clean channel but the dirty channel sucked so bad i didn't play it more than about 3 minutes.

Re: Soldano question

I didn't care much for the distortion on the 5150s much myself either. Way too black metalish and ball lacking for me.

Re: Soldano question

Well the 5150 does what it does and does it well. Forgive the thing its lack of versatility and love it for what it is. And as for the original Soldano question i would really say the Decatone over the SLO but then again it wouldn't jurt to shop some other brands. There are plenty of good amps out there.
