The 320s are made in Korea. In your price range, it's pretty great for a brand-new guitar, but you can probably get more guitar for your money if you buy used.

Get a Carvin Bolt kit for $350, assemble it, sand the neck down to the thickness you want. You can't do better for the price, or maybe even twice as much. A simple tung oil finish is easy to apply, or have Carvin finish it (for extra $$)
