Sorry one more 'What amp' query!

Okay so I stupidly bought a Spider III 150 for around £350 + short board for around £200. It's okay but it's just a bit muddy with my Jem 555 Custom.

I'm going to sell the lot and buy a valve for around £450. Now I see Line 6 do a Spider Valve 112 for about that and it's got good reviews. What can I get for that sort of money? More the question, what should I get?

Thanks!!! NB I play all sorts, but Vai stuff included!

Go tube! The new small blackstar's are meant to be great. I got a laney lionheart 5w combo for £450 which sounds great and really loud for a 5 watter

Re: Sorry one more 'What amp' query!

not sure how the exchange rate applies but after 14 amps I finally broke down and bought a Marshall 2204 50 watter. Best (and most expensive) head I ever bought. 800 American. On a 4x12 celestion
stack. Wish I would have done it 20 years ago. Would have saved a lot of time in the search for "my" perfect sound. Love it love it love it. For a good variety of ratings on virtually every amp out there, check Harmony Central.com. 1000's of reviews by people like you and me. Awesome resource for amp buying - or guitar, bass etc.
Reading those ratings is what finally made me decide on mine.
love it love it love it.

I love Marshall DSL amps - I use a DSL50 and the combo version, the DSL401, is also great, although at £554.99 I guess it's just that little bit more than you're looking to pay.

I find that my DSL50 is flexible enough for whatever I throw at it, and that means blues, indie, hard rock, shred and death metal. I've had it for about 2 years and I'm still finding new sounds with it.
