Re: speaker cables

Hey Paul, it doesn't really make a difference what kind of amp you have for requiring speaker cables. The point is that a guitar cable carries much less electrical current from guitar to amp than the speaker cable carries from amp to speaker. I'd recommend going with Mogami cables in general for your purposes, but Livewire stuff isn't bad either and it's a bit cheaper. The main thing is to get a cable that comes with a lifetime warranty, because most places will just give you a brand new cable if it breaks down on you when you have that warranty. There are lots of other more boutique quality cables but either brand I mentioned should suit your needs, I'd recommend 3-6 feet, just in case you ever have a situation where you can't sit the head right on top of the cab.

Re: speaker cables

I recommend going with a relatively thick speaker cable. I use an 8 gauge Yorkville cable that's great. It's nearly as thick as my index finger.
I also have a Planet Waves speaker cable that is good because it has retaining springs at the tips that help secure the cable into the jack. Which is an added bonus especially because you definitely don't want a speaker cable to slip out of the amps or cabs jack.
