Speaker Replacement - 8 or 16 ohm

Is one better than the other? The stock speaker is 8 ohm. Does that automatically mean I should use an 8 for the replacement? I realize that going to 16 will cut the power in half (V=IxR), but are there other considerations?

By the way, I'm talking about a Vox AD50VT amp. Any recommendations for a speaker? I'm considering a Celestion Vintage 30.

Re: Speaker Replacement - 8 or 16 ohm

if the amp has an 8 ohm speaker, replace it with an 8 ohm speaker. Putting a 16 ohm in it will mess up the amp in the long run.

i think a vintage 30 would be good, or a hellatone 60.

go to www.avatarspeakers.com and check the description on the hellatone. also avatar speakers has the best price on celestion speakers around.
