Speakers for 4 x12 cab?

I've heard a lot of great things about Celestion greenbacks and EV speakers, but how do I know which ones are right for me?
What about Sheffield speakers? Are these any good?
I mainly play 80's rock like Motley, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Van Halen etc....
Thx
Kev

Depends on what head you have really. Take your amp down to the local music shop and play thru as many cabinets as you can.

for 4x12, use 2 Celestion V30's and 2 Celestion Greenbacks. Can't go wrong with that!

That's the first step. And plan on taking some time doing it.

And like morgtahna says, don't forget that you can mix and match speakers in the cabinet to get a better sound as well. I have a 2x12 Avatar Cabinet with a Celestion Vintage 30 and G12-H30. The G12-H30 is supposedly similar to the Greenback but has a higher watt rating.

And if you have a stereo head you can control which speaker(s) are more dominant depending on how you have it wired.

Greenbacks are going to give you a more vintage tone while the Vintage 30's sound better for more aggressive rock. With a 4x12, you have four speaker slots, so why limit yourself? Two of each couldn't hurt

Personally, I've been wanting to try those celestion Black Shadows made for Mesa's. I hear they're very dark and full.
