special ordering from mesa.
have you guys ever ordered anyhting from mesa? if you have, how long did it take you to get it? I ordered a Mark IV Long Chassis Head, and it's been 2 1/2 months almost and i still haven't gotten it. It was supposed to take 3 weeks to come in. I'm getting really ticked off though at mesa. anyone else have this problem before??

Try contacting them directly. Maybe they can tell you what's up with your order. I don't think any Mesa employees read this forum.

I've only ordered parts from them, but they have been very helpful on the phone. If you're dealing directly with them I suspect you will have a tad more info than if you go through a dealer.

last time i was told about the status... my dealer guy told me that his rep said it was "being made as we speak" this was 5 weeks ago. I called mesa today.. and apparently the rep either lied, or just had no idea what he was talking baout cause they won't start making the Mark IV until the very end of this month, early september. Needless to say.. I'm pretty ticked. i'm thinking about cancelling the order and a really nice used one that's only been used a little.. but i dunnno.. today was a frustrating day

That's bollocks from them... first they say it's 2 ½ months and now they're saying they're going to start building the amp in a month or so... If there's no misunderstandings or f-ups from the dealer side, I'd say screw those lazy bastards and go get a Bogner.

It was the dealer talking out of his arse, not Mesa.
I've found that
music store
salesmen are the same as used car salesmen, shifty, and they will tell you what you want to hear and not care how things like this affect you. I spent over 4 hours in a fargin' Guitar Center with the $$$ in my HAND nearly BEGGING to buy what I'd picked out. I was set to drop the coin on a new 7 string, a bunch of accessories and a Mesa Nomad head. The guy wasted all my time dicking around on kids who were buying strings or nirvana tabs, here I'm looking to drop 3 grand on new gear and he can't give me the 10 minutes it would take to make the sale.
Find a nice Mom and Pop store or another place that may have the gear already in stock, Mesa's pricing is fixed so you'll pay the same for it no matter where you shop. Used isn't a bad thing either as you let the seller take the hit on the depreciation.
I ended up buying a full triaxis and 2/95 rig with a shock mount case and furman strip for 1500 delivered and going to the smallest
Ibanez dealer
with a 7 string in stock.
Anyway, just to make a point, I'd go back, get my money back from the liar and buy your gear elsewhere.

well.. i decided to cancel my order.. i found the same model at a store in middle, PA. I'm gonna drive out there to get it, so i don't have to deal with any special order crap again. except i also special ordered a 1x12 widebody cabinet from the same place I ordered Head from first. i wonder i that will ever get here...

Where in the middle of Pa are you going. I sell these things and special orders can take up to like 6 months from these guys. Did you call us.? I work at rainbow music. we also have 3/4 back 1x12 widebody. Anyway if you did call you must have spoken with the owner because I don't recall hearing about anyone asking about one.

winter long,
actually my dad just called there couple days ago.. i had a buddy from penn state go in today to get a price, since you can't give them over the phone and you guys won't ship to Pittsburgh (against mesa's rules i guess).. he said that you sell them for 1699.00, which is list price. i special ordered mine at 1470.00 from my place. after tax it was like 1572.00. Is 1699 the best you can do?? it is the Long chassis head you have right..

Actually it is the best we can do. Boogie set the prices on there gear. It is a violation of the dealer agreement to sell it for less. Boogie will take away the dealership if they find out that this rule has been broken. If boogie would hear about this it may not be good for the store you had the order with(unless it was guitar center they get away with murder). And yes we have the long chassis. And yes no shipping outside your dealer region, that also is a violation of the agreement.

well i'll think about it.. i'm gonna have my dealer call and see when mine is scheduled to begin production. i haven't cancelled the order yet. if it's not in the next production run then i will for sure cancel, unless i can't get my down payment back.. so. i guess we'll see what happens. $230 off list is pretty good deal. i really can't see how selling it less than list is in violation.. i mean... as long as they sell it for something over dealer cost, it won't make a difference to mesa. although mesa is real strict about everything.

I would say honesty wait and get it cheap. But if you don't trust me about priceing ask boogie. See they set the price like that so that dealers aren't undercutting each other like this case, but also we can't ship because boogie doesn't want the dealer competing with each other. Just ask them. We sell everything well below retail here(musicians friend price or less. less for cash). But trust me It would be a violation of agreement with boogie. Anyway good luck to you. Boogie is real slow. Oh yeah I should mention that I know the boogie rep and he really never lies. I don't know what that means to you, but truly he is a great rep and has very lied to us. Just wait dude It may be a few more months but I am sure they never go more than 6 months with out making the mark IV.

yeah i understand their logic, and i do believe you.. the store told me that they only had very little control over the price. plus i think they might have cut me a little bit of a deal since i have bought like 15000 worth of stuff there.. When i called Mesa they said they were supposed to do another run of Mark IVs at the end of this month. so hopefully my order will be in that batch. i'll have to call again and find out
You know anyhitng about cabs... cause i ordered that too.. do they make those regularly at mesa?? or will it take months and months for me to receive my 1x12 wide halfback too??

Some times the cabs have taken longer than the amps. But they are made in batches too so it is hard to say. Last time we special ordered a cab it took about 4 months. But they make the cabs in cycles so hard to say. Really could be anytime.

Winterlong is correct. Mesa prices are the same everywhere.

It makes a difference trust me. Its part of Mesa's dealer agreement to stop artificial price inflation, devaluation of their line, etc... If your dealer is getting it for you "at a discount" perhaps that is the hold up. Like Bam said sales people will often say ANYTHING to get a sale. Think about it...their company has had use of your down payment for how long now? all interest free...Maybe they can really get it for you at that price, but then again maybe not and that is the cause of the hold up. They might have promised something they can not deliver. When I was younger I had a similar thing happen to me, with of all things a crate amp
. The
local music store
was a crate dealer and said they could get the amp I wanted for way less than the street price...I gave them a deposit. Waited like 4 months..no amp...finally, got them to admit they had never even ordered it...They couldn't get it for the price they said they could. I went to a dealer that had it in stock, paid more than the original dealer said they could get it for, yes, but I also had it that day....Just some food for thought...as far as cabinets go, unless you do not have a bigger mesa dealer some where close to you, like 50-100 miles, I wouldn't wait on a special order cabinet, unless you are truly getting a special order, ie. speakers that usually do not come in a certain model, special covering, etc...They only make 'em when they have enough orders and that, like winterlong said, could be tomorrow, or it could be 2 months....just my 2 cents...good luck!
