Squire Strat for Ebow?

I've been offered a trade: my Squire Strat ('97, Affinity model (but not thinned out, etc, like the recent ones), with DiMarzio Super Distortion added in the bridge position) for a mint condition, barely used Ebow. Is this a fair trade?

Considering a brand-new Ebow is only US$79.99 from MF, i'd say no. But it all comes down to what your Squier is worth to you.

An e-bow is only worth $80 new, isn't it? Sounds like you'd be coming out on the short end of the deal.

Yeah, you're pickup alone is worth nearly that. If you're not playing the thing, then sure, but look for another $100 or so (USD) thrown in, maybe...

Personally, i like having a 6 string lying around, even if you play mostly 7. They're especially useful if the 7 has a floating bridge- it's nice to be able to explore new tunings with a 1-minute setup change, instead of a 45 minute one.

Nah, I don't use it much at all anymore, esp. since the 7-string's a hardtail, and the 6-string isn't (stupid Squire trem won't stay in tune worth crap...). I'll see if I can get him to throw in a bit of cash in the trade, if not, no deal.

Besides, I'm eyeing this nice Squire Fat Strat 7-string at a local music store that's going dirt cheap (and I could probably talk them even lower cuz the guys hate 7-strings, and don't know their @$$ from their input jack so to speak). Heck, you even mention Ibanez and they go "Oh yea, they got real popular during that whole 7-string trend, but I don't know much else about them" then go into a big rant about why 7-strings are pointless. Basically, I'd be getting a 7-string version of my Strat, with a cheaper bridge pickup (for now lol), and all black (pickup covers, pickguard, knobs, etc included) instead of white pickguard, etc. Which I like lol

I quite liiked the neck profile on those Fat Strat 7's... i was tempted to get a sunburst one myself. The fret ends were a bit ouchy, but nothing a little filing wouldn't fix.

Yea, I plan to try it out sometime soon. How did they sound?

is this a stagemaster or a fat strat? reason i asked was that i was screwing around on a stagemaster once, and i thought it was suprisingly cool.

you know, you might be able to work out a pretty good trade for that 7, if they hate the things there...

I could (and might) try a trade...it's a Fat Strat, not a Stagemaster. I've tried the Stagemaster 7-FR before and I agree, they're surprisingly good. Tho it was horribly set up, and I prefer fixed bridges

I'll try out the Fat Strat soon.

It's fixed, then? I'd personally prefer to have atleast one guitar around with a trem, but that's just me.

Keep in mind also that it's nearly impossible (or at least kinda painful) to do thumb-over-neck hendrixy chordal work on a 7. if that's an issue, then keep the strat. if it's not part of your style then, well, if you're getting a good deal, then do it.

Well, I don't do the Hendrix style chordal work, so that's good. And I like trems, but I prefer hard-tails to floating trems. The Fat Strat 7 has a vintage trem I think :P

Yea, that's what I was thinking. Hense why I'd be asking for a hundred or two extra on the guitar.
