Steves Strap

As far as i know, he uses Clip Locks. In the just like paradise and yankee rose video when he swings his guitar around his body (sweet!) yet people warn me my guitar will fly off. will Clip locks guarantee that it wont?

sincerely,
ry

Dude, if you're 13, I would be more worried about it scraping the ground on it's way by.

Seriously, yes, if you have a wireless system, it'll do the trick.

Re: Steves Strap

I've had a set of cliplocks for a year now and they do great. Granted I'm not doing steve-moves, but I still jump, thrash and move about.

Re: Steves Strap

Will the strap hold? Probably so.

Does Dimarzio guarantee that it will hold? I seriously doubt it.

Re: Steves Strap

I never cared for the Dimarzio lock strap, i've been playing guitar for 16 years and i've used it a few times here and there, never any good luck have I had with them. The last time was back in 1999 when my RG 7620 went flying and dropped to the ground, the strap button was ripped right out and left a huge gouge, I had to put epoxy in it and set the strap button back in, it has remained in there strong ever since however that was the last time I used the Dimarzio clip lock strap. Also, I like my guitars without straps. Only when I play out, is when the strap goes on, after the show, the strap comes off.

Re: Steves Strap

I'm not keen on the straplocks either - there is the possibility that the guitar could get scratched by the plastic bits in the case

Re: Steves Strap

Mine was owned and used by Steve Vai on the 1999 Ultra zone world Tour.

It has been ALWAYS in my Jem since I got it and never had a problem.

Re: Steves Strap

I'm not a real big fan of those straps either. It definitely won't break on you swinging a guitar around. The danger is that the strap pin will pull out of the guitar ... which is a danger no matter what strap you have. And it's more of a danger with soft guitar woods like basswood. Bottom line, don't swing around any guitar that you can't afford to have crash into the floor when it all goes wrong

Re: Steves Strap

Somewhere on here (in the vids upload section) is some kid doing that with a bass...and sure enough it flies off...goes spinning thru the air and crashes into the side of his garage.....at which point he was wishing like hell he'd never attempted that maneuver.
