swaping necks?
Hey all can a wizard neck from a 97 model 470(AANJ) be put on a 2000 model 470(AANJ) that has a wizard 2 neck? dont want to take apart both guitars to figure this out if one of you EXPERTS can tell me this, I got the 97 for 100.00 cause it looked like somebody did some WHO interpretations with it on stage, body's pretty beat up, the 2000 is the titanium Ice and perfect, so I'd like to put the wizard on it, thanks all for the help!! Re: swaping necks?
That would depends where the guitars are made. If both are MIJ, it should fit perfectly.

Re: swaping necks?
Hmm, are the AANJ neck joins really different between countries? I'm looking to put a Prestige neck on a Korean S body which would have originally had a Wizard II...figured it should fit...

Watch out for the 22/24-fret options!

Re: swaping necks?
Hey Ranger, thats why I asked, cause I thought a while ago I had a conversation with a local music store vendor, who told me he thought that the Wizard 2 and wizard necks were different widths? thats why I was asking for help before I took both guitars apart, maybe one of the mods or someone else can elaborate if they've done this before, thanks all!!! Yeah I did know about that, the S body I am looking at (MIK S520EX) supposedly accommodates a 24 fret neck with the small tongue like the Prestige 24 fret necks. But I didn't think about the widths...anybody know for sure? Ibanez site quotes the Wizard II neck as being 2 mm thinner at the 12th fret...so I'm guessing it won't fit.

Re: swaping necks?
The difference is purely with the spacing for the neck screw holes. The widths (pre-prestige) as the same. If you want to put a MIJ Wizard on a MIK body you would fill the holes on the neck with dowel, and redrill to match the body.

Re: swaping necks?
Thanks! If it's as simple as that then I'm going for it. Although that doesn't make much sense to me, why would ibanez list it the way they did? It shows the width of the neck at the last fret as being 56mm on the Wizard II, and 58mm on the Wizard Prestige...

Re: swaping necks?
Like I said, the widths (pre-Prestige) are the same. That means Wizard and Wizard II necks before the Prestige Wizard came in to production are the same.

Re: swaping necks?
not being a dick or anything, but you do have the guitars. just unbolt the necks and see if they match up.
