T.C. Electronics Nova System: Reviews anyone?

I am really interested in one of these, looks like a quality/well built unit from a reputable company. I have a few questions for the people that have tried, or have one.
I intend to use it infront of a clean valve amp.

1. How's the distortion? Does it sound filmsy/artificial? The site claims to be all analog circuit.

2. I travel a lot by car and I usually have a laptop with me and take a guitar along. Can I use the Nova System to record guitar on Cubase? (Currently I take a pocket pod with me that I plug in the line in of my laptop)

3. I suppose the effects are the usual T.C. Electronic quality.

4. can it be used as a preamp infront of a stereo amp?

Bottom line, I am looking for a quality all in one unit that can be used for recording as well, but try to avoid the digital-ness of Line6 and the like....
Can this be it?

Germans have made lot of review on nova systems. I Don't know if I can put URL in my answers but I wont be offended an admin delet my post.

Buy reputation, those system have a great sound but they are tricky to use and not unfriendly at all. If you have a lot of time to learn the toll, you might get a good sound of it.

One of the reviewers mentioned that the preset/effect only changes after you take your foot off the switch.

That seems like a bit of a problem to me, especially during a live performance

Just put your foot down on the pedal a few seconds before and release when the effect is needed. It isn't that hard getting used to.

TC has lost the plot, IMO. I have their Konnekt 8 interface, and the drivers that come with it are without a doubt the ****tiest dridvers I've ever seen. Preamps and converters are great, though, so there's hope that if enough people whine for long enough they'll rewrite the drivers.

I believe this is fixed by the new software version...

Re: T.C. Electronics Nova System: Reviews anyone?

So, I finally went to a shop to demo the Nova System, pluged it in an amp and hit the distortion button. After playing a few seconds the unit just died on me... and never came back to life. The guys there told me it is probably a defective one, and took it away to send it back...
I thought they were supposed to be sturdy units and it certainly looked well built and bigger than I thought it would be.
So noone has bought one of these yet?
Are there any other reviews than harmony centrals?

Re: T.C. Electronics Nova System: Reviews anyone?

I stopped at Sam Ash here in Atlanta one day last week and played with the nova system for about an hour. Now, I have a G-System, which I absolutely love... but, I was just as impressed with the nova system. I plugged the nova into a Fender Hot-rod Deville 2x12 combo. From there the first thing I did was turn all the effects off so I could hear the od/distortion. I was really impressed with the warm tones I was getting... very usable both lead and rythm sounds(classic, but not metal). And even with the gain set relatively low it had great sustain... especially with the compressor on. Then I tried the distortion... very creamy, Eric Johnson-ish / Andy Timmons kind of tones.
And I had the fender eq'd flat. The fx section sounded great... IMHO I'd be hard pressed to tell the sonic difference between the fx on the g-system and the nova. I don't believe the nova had quite as many parameters nor types of fx to tweak, but the core tone of the common fx are identical... great reverb/delay/modulation fx.
I must have played through the nova system for at least an hour... very inspiring.
It's the "all in one" rig it's billed as. I could easily gig with the nova system and a clean combo amp. I will have one!
