Tapping MIDI phantom power for multiple pedals

Here's today's question...

I use a Rocktron MidiMate (and occasionally a Randal RF4) foot controller to control my rack rig. It is powered using phantom power, the AC adapter is plugged into the power conditioner in my rack.

I also have a wah pedal that runs on 9V batteries or can be powered using an AC adapter. The wah & MIDI controller are the only pedals I have on the floor now.

According to my calculations, the Rocktron's adapter puts out more than enough current to power both the MidiMate and the wah.

So in theory it should be possible for me to tap into the power running on the extra 2 pins in the MIDI cable to power the wah, right? Has anybody tried this?

(Why all the effort? Let's just say I'm tired of running extension cords to the pedalboard to power one pedal, and I've never really trusted batteries.)

Thanks
