TC Elec. G-Major.. - Anyone hear about it...

Just saw it on the TC site. I am so glad I didn't buy a G-Force. Someone emailed me about this unit. They heard it was listing at $699. 24 bit. 7 effects at once.

Anyone have any other info? Interested if the pitch shifting is diatonic or not. Can't really get the feel from their web site.

TIA - Dave

TC Elec. G-Major..

dave, I'm the one who e-mailed you about this thing. *I've been looking everywhere for more info and there's nothing out there! *today I was flipping through the March 2001 issue of "Guitar World" and Bam!!! there it is, a full page ad that tells nothing just a picture! *I am dying to find out more about this thing. *
I am on the TC electronics e-mailing list and I got this the other day:

"Greetings from TC Electronic and TC Works!!!!

Here you have latest news and releases from TC Electronic for Winter NAMM 2001. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Our TC Electronic both number is 6844 and our TC Works both number 6620. Both in Hall A in Anaheim Convintion Center. * * * * * * * * * *We of course hope to see you !!!!!

TC Electronic Rolls Out - G-Major Guitar Processor
TC Electronic has rolled out G-Major - a new single space rack mount guitar
multi-effects processor with optional MIDI foot controller, featuring high
quality traditional guitar effects such as reverbs, delay and pitch.
G-Major can run up to seven different effects and a tuner simultaneously
with real-time control over a number of its internal parameters through MIDI
or the pedal input. Retail price for the G-Major is US$ 699."

What a teaser!!! Anybody else know anything about this unit?

TC Elec. G-Major..

I really appreciated that email. I was a hop, skip and a jump away from buying a G-Force. Think I am going to wait until I find out more about the Major. I only want to know if it is diatonic shifting. I know it is 24 bit from their site.

I am not sure what the difference is between the force and the major that could cause the 1000 dollar difference.

TC Elec. G-Major..

Dave, I'm also curious about the G-Major. *Seems like a steal for the price but there has to be something that keeps the price down. *TC is still going to produce the G-Force.
***************.com already has the G-Major list for sale at $499.99

As an alternative, Eventide released their newest processor, the Eclipse. *They don't give a retail price, but it sounds pretty cool from the press release:

If you find anything else out about the G-Major, please post!

TC Elec. G-Major..

just from reading the VERY limited descriptions it seems that it doesn't have the Data dump thingie, and it isn't as flexable when it comes to where you can put the FX in the signal chain. *I don't think it has a EQ like the G-force. *But it does have amp switching relays... the G-force doesn't. *Hummm The plot thickens. *It does have the "Morphing" effect... you know where when you switch from say a delay to something else it allows your current delay signal to decay out, unlike most units that just cut it off (I really like that). *I'm tempted to just pick one up, M-friend gives a 30 or 45 day return on all their stuff... It'd be worth the price of shipping just to gig with it a few times and see if it's cool.

TC Elec. G-Major..

After reading the TC Electronics site it sounds like the pitch shifting is NOT diatonic it is, in their words, "With the G•Major Pitch Shifter you are able to add 2 voices, each with a fixed pitch within +/- one octave from the Input note. " The word fixed screws the idea of diatonic. Oh well.

The Eventide unit sounds like it offers MORE than the 3000 series. That can only mean one thing with Eventide, more stuff=more money. I will stick with my 3000.
