My gosh, where does everyone get all the money for this stuff? My "rig", if that's what you'd like to call it, is really simple.
Guitars:
Schecter C-1+ black cherry
(someday) JEM7VWH
Pedals:
Only a dunlop Crybaby Classic (should really get me a Bad Horsie)
Oh, and the contol switches for my amp
Amp:
Fender Princeton Chorus

Maybe soon I'll get a JSX or 5150 amp, but that's all I really need, what's the reason for all of the rack gear and stuff (besides high-end delays, flangers, etc.)? The tone you search for is all in your EQ and your playing style.

Though SOME of an individual's tone does undoubtedly come from the fingers and technique, there is no arguing that the amp setup and other equipment used has a great deal to do with the end product. You ask why all the rack gear and multiple amps, etc. I say, why not? I've never heard of versatility being a bad thing.

If I'm an artist, I'm certainly going to want more colors to work with than black and white.

Ibanez RG1550
Carlsbro GLX100
Boss HM-2 distortion, Boss CE-2 chorus, V-amp2.
Only got amp yesterday, so will be sorting out whether to use v-amp or the boss effects live. in my bedroom with experimenting I'm liking the v-amp more.

I'm not a rich fellow, so I don't have loads of gear .

Gitboxes:

Custom Hardtail Strat HSS, flame birch top, Duncan & Fender pups
Charvel CMX-Dlx floyd strat, now burnt and w/SSS pup config (Duncan)
Homegrown Strat, w/Duncan pups
...and a mongrel, totally beaten-up strat still in the process of making...

Gizmos:

Snarling Dogs Super Bawl Whine-O Wah
EHX Frequency Analyzer ring modulator, w/TB mod
Line6 Delay Modeler
(plus an oddball Danelectro Tuna Melt tremolo which's not in regular use)

Amps:

'94 Rivera Hundred Duo Twelve
( + a custom 1-watt tube amp head + a VHT 1x12 cab for practicing at home)

All cables George L's and DiMarzios.

The tone? Smokin'!!!

Update:

Jem7VWH through Roland Cube 30 no more. Now playing through Mesa Boogie Rect-O-Verb 50 head (it's the newer version with three overdrive modes) and a 2x12 recto cab.

My wife calls it the "MEGA BOOGIE"

Anyone who cannot get a good sound out of this amp needs to review the on-line manual and the correct usage of the presence knob

I'm now playing a Dean EVO 7 through an Acoustic Image Clarus 1 amp with an Ampeg PB112H speaker cab.
My whole rig weighs less than 30 pounds and has plenty of power with a great clean sound.

As of tonight....

http://members.aol.com/vaijem777/amps.jpg

-Mesa/Boogie Mark IV short combo w/200W EV
-Original Matchless Chieftain Head & matching 12" cab (green)
-Marshall 30th Anniversary 6100 Head (blue) w/ 1960A cab
-Rack Setup with:
-Rivera TBR-2SL
-TC Electronics G-Major
-BBE 442 Sonic Maximizer
-Korg rack tuner
-Furman power conditioner/lighting unit
-GCX Amp switcher
(In the back of the rack there is an MXR Phaser 90 & a Keeley DS-1)

I've got (2) Pedalboards.

Rack Pedalboard: http://members.aol.com/vaijem777/pedalboard.jpg
-Ground Control Pro
-Keeley Ibanez Turbo Tube Screamer (the Keeley-DS1 is in the back of the rack)
-Copper Dunlop Crybaby 535
-(2) Ernie Ball volume pedals

The Smaller pedalboard: http://members.aol.com/vaijem777/smallboard.jpg
-Furman Pedalboard
-Boss NS-2 Noise Supressor
-Boss TU-12 Tuner
-Fulltone Fat Boost
-Dunlop Copper Crybaby 535
-Ibanez Keeley-modded TS-9
-Ibanez SM-9 Super Metal
-Ibanez BC-9 BiMode Chorus
-Fulltone Ultimate Octave
-Voodoo Labs Microvibe
-Boss DD-3 Digital Delay

I've also got roughly 30-40 various pedals (The Ibanez 808 & 9 series plus a bunch of odds n' ends).

Guitars are ever-changing. I've actually sold a LOT of what I had in favor of getting a decent amp collection going. I've pretty much settled on my Rick Turner Model 1 and my Relic Strat for the most part so everything else is just for fun. I did just pick up a sweet RG2027X-VV though

Mesa triaxis-g major into a mesa 395 into a trace elliot cab with celestion v30's.Berhinger controller.Bad horsie 2.Mesa subway reverb with 1x12 extension cabinet.Samson wireless.Guitars-various customized rg's-swirled with different pickups and wiring for each.Stock guitars-js6000-rg3120-rgpr2-uscg leather and metal-uv777pbk-j custom 3040-sa 220ex-valley arts studio pro-takamine santa fe acoustic-sr1200 bass.I'll probably sell off most of the stock guitars except for the uv,takamine and bass.I play the customized rg's the most and when I'm finished putting the next 5 together I'll end up with 8.It will be a nice mixture of necks, body woods and electronics. And since they are swirled, everyone will be unique.
