Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)

Nice, this thread is going along nicely and I am trying to keep it up to date as much as possible, but 750 views and only 46 posts? I guess those 704 don't use picks? Lol.

Dunlop Big Stubby - 3mm

I just like the amount of control with this pick. I also think the intonation, attack and everything is awesome.

Steve Vai Signature

I have a few of those, as I got them as a gift from a friend. They are nice and I like to use them as backup to the stubby, if I lose a pick during play these are easier to grab from the pickholder, than the stubby

However, if you stroll over to www.myspace.com/peterhodgson you can hear a song called "Mistral" where my pick is one of these:

Jackson XH 1.14mm.
My favourite pick, don't know where to get any more though. Luckily I have a bag of around 50-100 left.
If anyone knows of a place I get some more, please let me know

Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)

I've been using both Black and Red 1.38 Jazz III's for probably 15 years at least. Love the stiffness, love how they help to add more bite to my attack, and they really do help encourage accuracy. Plus, I have a somewhat different picking technique (mostly having to do with the angle of attack). After a while, the Jazz III's wear down for me in a very specific way, and that wear (I feel) is intrinsic to my tone when I'm playing certain styles of music.
