Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)
I played the Jazz 3's for awhile and I like them a lot but after picking back up the Vai picks, I realized that I have a little more control, I can pick faster and more accurate

The 1st link are Tortex jazz picks, which are the exact same size and shape as Jazz III's. The big difference being the lack of a bevel on the edge.
The 2nd link are pretty similar to regular Tortex picks.

dunlop tortex
1mm blue
reason: comfey, smooth, good grip and good string attack, also great for acoutisc playing.
dunlop tortex 0.60 mm orange
reason: comfey, smooth good grip, i find them good for neck region playing

Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)
I've recently switched to Dunlop Ultex 1.14 on my Martin HD-28. I use the Ultex 1.0 for my other acoustics.
The Ultex gets nicely beveled after about 30 minutes. They last much longer, have a warm sounding attack and are less "clicky" than Tortex and Delrin picks I was using.

Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)
Everly Star Grip picks. I always had a problem with dropping picks but I hated the adhesives, cork, curves, and nubs. These are the most wonderful picks I've ever used. They have the same feel as a tortex but with the grip. I use .60s. I also occasionally use
Ibanez Paul Gilbert
picks for a thicker acoustic sound.

Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)
Plain ole Fender Heavy here for normal use. I do use a Stylus Pick when doing scale runs to keep my pick technique up to par.

Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)
Either Clayton .80 picks or Dunlop 1mm Nylons
After a while the nylons feel flimsy so I'll switch to a Clayton, or vice versa where the Clayton will feel to stiff and I'll switch to Nylons

Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)
Ultra Cool "Stealth" heavies for rhythm, and Jazz III's (Black) for otherwise.
My top pick was this odd shaped dunlop I had a couple of. It was boxy, with an arrow-like point. (Think monopoly-house shaped)

Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)
Dunlop Tortex .73 yellow. But I see that everyone is using much heavier picks that I am, is there a reason? Can someone tell me why it might be better to use heavy picks instead of lighter picks?
Or am I just being paranoid for no reason?
