Yeah.. the XL are exactly that! XL!! I think they're too big, and I'm a tall guy (6'5'').

The biggest difference is the matte finish and the raised embossed letters make for a better grip. The tip and the beveled edges seem slightly different, nothing major. They have a tad more flex than a regular Jazz III, but they're still stiff compared to most other picks.

I hope Dunlop gets the new Max Grip Jazz III's in the distribution/retailer chain soon, I like them quite a bit.

Has anyone tried Red Bear Picks yet? There supposed to be amazing but $20 is a lot to spend on one pick!

Yes, the Red Bear picks are very nice! You can also get their Tuff Stuff version ( a different material) for $10. I got one each of the normal and Tuff Stuff Lil Jazzers, which are about the same size and shape as a Jazz III.

John Petrucci likes the Red Bear picks, too. He was trying them out on the recent Prog Nation tour. Dweezil Zappa also used Red Bears.

Re: The Epic Pick Thread ! (Sticky?)

I like the black Dunlop Jazz III picks the best. I actually like the grip of the Ultex much better, or even the red ones, but the black ones feel the best on the strings to me... so I live with the grip.

Also tried the Jazz III XL but didn't like those. The regular ones just feel perfect to me.

Ever since I met Andy Timmons in the mid 90's and found out he used Green Tortex Jazz sharpie M3's I have been using them too. I have tried to switch back to regular Tortex Greens but they are just so damn BIG. I can't do it.
