Re: The one players tone you most want.

Well most people want their own tone but use other people's tones as a reference point.

Even tone and playing genius Eric Johnson often references early Clapton with Cream as one of his benchmarks- he's taken it further, but that's how people usually get to where they are.

Totally valid to say I want a cross between such and such etc.

My own

Generally though, I think the tone on BTBAM's new album is amazing. So that.

Echo Adam Jones of Tool. Also Jerry Cantrell (I used to own a Bogner Shiva head and damned if that wasn't a big part of his tone equation). Still miss that amp...

I was a big fan of the sounds that Nuno Bettencourt was getting. I also liked the melodic tones of Paul Gilbert, Vito Bratta and the guy from Firehouse. (I know... I'm old.)

Another old guy here. A cross between George lynch, Randy Rhoads, EverGrey (both Guitarists tone), Jeff Loomis. And their chops also. LOL!

Im gonna have to go with Billy Gibbons. Some of his real distorted or fuzz tones, like on the song Liqour. Im not much of a guitarist yet. But i guess that is what I am working towards.

Yeah that is for sure. But, think about it if you had your fav players tones and distilled them down into one super killer tone you wouldn't sound like anyone before..... ehh, ehhh, see what I mean.
