Dude in red shirt has some pretty good tone. There's something in the mids there that I really like. Everything else (Gilbert and Vai) I can get out of my Egnater.

i'm pretty happy with my current sound, though if i had to pick a player who's sound just kills me it'd be jeff buckley.

Re: The one players tone you most want.

for my personal room amp and what i use daily when i jam, a warmoth guitar, loaded to the brim, then a digitech 2120 artist(i have 3 of these babys), and it goes into a 60 wat rack power amp its a peavey classic rack series then it goes intoa cab with v12l clestions wich are greenback speakers, but the magnet is a vintage 30

its kinda kewl, i love it and wouldnt trade it for the world

my stage gear(even tho i dont do gigs, but i jam with friends) its a digitech 2120 artist with a 120/120 peavey classic series rack power amp, and it goes into two cabs with 4 ev12l's in them

love it, but i wana sell it,i dont use it anymroe

Re: The one players tone you most want.

why is it that david gilmour is not getting much of a mention?

the tone he has at the moment is fantasti!
just listen to 'on an island'

that is a real tone, none of this processed/ultrascooped crapola!!

(spot the non metaller...)

I want those shimmering Fender Twin clean tones for some things, That Dumble ODS singing note bloom for rhythm and some lead work and that Komet/Trainwreck touch responsiveness and note bloom into the upper harmonics for a harder rock tone. Ah.... hell just give me a good tube amp and guitar and I'll find a way to milk it!
Now who do I think has great tone????? EJ of course along with Robben Ford, Larry Carlton, Santana, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Ronnie Montrose, Sonny Landreth, Nuno Bettencourt, Vito Bratta, Pat Metheny, Albert Lee, Junior Brown...... Blah, blah, blah...... Bored yet?????
So when they make an amp that lets me emulate all them, I'll rush right out and buy it!
I think I'd do better just working my chops and keep learning different musical styles. Oh, and just be happy sounding like me.......

THANK YOU!

Exactly right....

Robben Ford's Dumble sounds pretty good live mind you....

Yes Petrucci's tone when covering Zeppelin is amazing to me. I'd like to have mix of that tone and Kiko Louriero's tone on Temple of Shadows.
