the volume pedal

I know this was discussed a while ago, but now it's official.

http://www.morleypedals.com/new.htm

I guess we now know why it's green...

Little Alligator

I think Steve needs to make a signature series multi-fx unit... that way I could have my entire signal be vai signature series from start to finish... (I'm joking, don't hang me )

Oooh… Aaaah…. * Just in time for Christmas. *That link goes to my wife for sure.

I so love not having to stomp a switch to engage gadgets.

wooo! And I was just asking my buddy that runs a shop about a good volume pedal to go w/ my 'Horsie'. I just called him and ordered one.

Thanks for the tip.

That’s a good question Dave. *I don’t have a volume pedal. *In fact, I haven’t had one for over 10 years. *Back then you had to stomp a switch on the Morley “volume/wah”. Another irritating property of the pedal was that they never passed full gain properly, even pushed all the way down.

Since I like everything on my UV except where the volume knob is placed, I think it’s time for a volume pedal. *This one will complement my Bad Horsie nicely.

I have a Morley Wah/Volume pedal and it doesn't have a minimum volume setting. I use it in the loop as a kill switch.

* * The Little Alligator looks to be useful going into the front-end of an amp as a distortion control device.....sweet.

Bob, (this isn't ment to be sarcastic...)

Are there are any volume pedals you have to press a switch to engage? *As far as I know... all volume pedals are switchless.

I must add, the minimum volume knob is an extremely cool idea. *Well done, Morely.

Minimum volume controls are nothing new, most volume pedals already have them.

Rgr...

I'm only familiar with an Ernie Ball mono volume pedal I use to own & it didn't have a volume control... sorry for my ignorance. *

Bob...
I understand having a toggle switch on a pedal with a dual function (wah & volume), but for a dedicated volume pedal I don't think it's very common. *

I know first hand what you're talking about with gain loss from wah pedals! *I always disliked cry baby's for that reason (no i haven't tried the new Q switch thing yet ) *

Steve has put his name on an awful lot of products lately... *thankfully they've always been very good quality. *

dw, (it's Dave, right?)

I use a Boss volume pedal and I think all of theirs have min volume pots. *I "think" the new EBs do too, it may be a trim pot inside but I think it's settable. *I may have generalized too much in my post, sorry. *

It is a cool feature, I can clean up the high gain channel quite well on my amp. *I think that's what Steve was doing for his clean stuff live, I think he was only using the "dirty" channel on his amp and using a Boss volume pedal to clean it up. *

Later,
Roger

Active... yuck... waste of batteries... affects signal... more chance of hum... Sorry folks, not for me.

I'll take my 500K guitar volume pot or a passive EB Volume over that bad boy anyday...

A signature volume pedal? What?!>! I admit that the Wah Pedal was/is fairly unique and well built, but a volume pedal? Crazy stuff. Next year it will be the Steve Vai signature guitar strap. Just kidding, stop turning red!

Anyways, can anyone give specifics on the difference between the Little Alligator and the standard Morely Volume. And don't say something like 'It is custom tailored to Steve's tonal preference' because I will have a tough time believing that!

So far my options are tied between the Standard Morely and the Ernie ball. And yes, a previous postee stated that the Ernie balls have minimum volume knobs...CORRECT! old and new models. The newer models are a bit hidden away, however.
*Regards

It looks and is decribed exactly like the "Morley PVO" I own.

I believe this falls into the "going too far" category of product endorsement. Luckily the Morley PVO is a great volume pedal and at least people will be buying a decent piece of gear with Vai's name if they so choose... glen

PS - will any buyers not tape over the huge green "little aligator" decals if they play out with this pedal?

Glen, I agree completely! I was frightened that I may take some guff by my comment, but it is true.

How does they battery hold up in your volume pedal? Or let me guess...you have one of those custom made pedal boards?

I liked the remark about the tape over the little green letters. Well done!

how much, and where can I get one??? *

(just kidding)

I dunno, but I like the green writing and LED on the li'l alligator. I wouldn't cover it up... I haven't covered up my bad horsie bits.
