Tourmaster 4100 head

So being an Egnater-head, I had to get me one. I didn't quite pay attention when I tried it out in the store, but the darn thing is HUGE. Easily 20% bigger than TOL100, and probably 30% heavier, so when the box arrived today I was in for a surprise. The seller also threw in a few extra tubes for some reason. :-)

The head sounds freakin' great. I haven't yet explored all the channels, but channels 3 and 4 (where I'll be spending most of the time) are in the same league as TOL100, with a bit more bottom end. Reverb is better, too, which is nice even though I won't be using it. I set the gain channels to 10W and clean to 25W, so the volume is quite manageable.

I have also received a couple Warehouse ET65 speakers, which are supposed to be copies of vintage G12-65, so tomorrow is a new amp AND speaker day.

Re: Tourmaster 4100 head

congrats man. i just put one of these on layaway at guitar center yesterday too

played through it again with my own guitar just to make sure it was as godly as i remembered it and yep, it was. i originally wanted to get the combo for the portability factor until i read a review of it in guitar player and the only knock they had was that it was heavier than hell. you think the head is heavy? try lifting the combo. i don't think i've ever tried to lift a 2x12 that was so heavy. but head is pretty heavy too. i think i'll eventually opt for a 2x12 extension, but until then, i can just run it through my 4x12.

anyway, that power scaling power grid is amazing. much more versatile than just being able to cut the amp down to half or a quarter power.

Stiletto 2x12 was heavier than a stack of lead bricks. I heard Trem-o-verb is insanely heavy, too, but I've never owned one.
