Re: 'Transparent' Volume pedal

I really can't believe EB would make a pedal that would kill your tone.

I bet many more people have the same model of yours and they're happy with it.
Maybe yours have a problem, just guessing.
In 16 years I had about 6 volume pedals and I played with all major labels.
They never affected my tone.
Once I had 4 volume pedals in my studio and none of them changed my tone a bit.

Re: 'Transparent' Volume pedal

I've been using the same EB for about 9-10 years now. Works perfectly and I've never had to change the string. And, I've put this thing through it's paces. It has never messed up the tone of any amp/rig I've used it in.

Re: 'Transparent' Volume pedal

I've tried many, but I just can't stand them. They kill your tone, especially your high end...it makes it sounds very sterile to my ears. But then again, I go crazy if I'm using one pedal that isn't true bypass. I guess I'm just very sensitive to that type of thing.

Smitty is correct. Depending on where you place it, the EB volume pedal does have an effect on your sound, most noticeably the high end. Will people in the crowd notice? Probably not, but the difference is there.

Yup. Even more so is the "feel" of your tone. It just feels slightly muffled. No good! But I do believe that if you get a signal buffer, it may help, or maybe a 1 meg pot. And putting a high pass filter capacitor in it like in the JS volume pots will help the tone when you roll back the volume pedal. If it's anything below wide open, it sounds even more terrible.
