Triaxis - I want to get one, but can someone help me out?

I'd like to know if anyone here with a triaxis and a 7 string could possibly make some mp3's of them playing the various sounds they get out of the triaxis

of course with no effects and no studio magic

I'd like raw recordings so I can hear how it sounds

that is if anyone wants to help out

Thanks

Why didn't you ask me there froot loop, I woulda hooked you up sooner.
Trust me, you should be able to get all the gain you need out of the Tri, in fact, you should be able to get enuff from the studio pre-amp you have.

I have a Quad Pre, we just talked about that about a night or so ago, and no I can't get any gain out of this thing

Maybe i'm useless but the triaxis sounds like it would be better for me, So i'm going to sell what I have right now

Just message me when your on or email me some clips if you want of you playin through it,

keeping in mind I need lots of ditortion and lots of harmonics

Use a triaxis with a UV, sounds far too good for it's own good, problem is I can't post any sound clips as my PC at home isn't connected to the net, but I'll give you a description anyway...

What stuff am I into? Well, Morbid Angel, Carcass, Hypocrisy, DT, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Maiden and tons of other stuff. Basically, I like my gain, and I like heaviness.

Triaxis: It has tons of gain. More than you need sometimes, but all the gain is nice. Tons of different sounds as well, Too many in fact, because they all sound nice. Will do harmonics well. Don't worry about this one, lovely pinch/natural ones, no problem. You can also really easily get that "metallica" thrashy crunchy sound out as well. And the clarity is mind blowing at times. I know I am going on a bit, but it is by far the best piece of equipment I have.

And as for it coping with the lows, it does so admirably, so absolutely no worries there.

But everyone says this, and it is true, but I'll repeat it anyway: It'll take quite a while to get used to it. You can't just dial in your gain to 10 and scoop the mids to get that instant cool sound. I have had it for a couple of months and am still adjusting to it. My settings change at leat once a weak through tweaking.

I know this isn't what you asked for, but I will have a go at making some clips tonight, if I can keep them small enough to fit on a 3.5" floppy. What kind of riffing do you want, will try to keep in that style...So what kind of clips would you prefer? GIve me a list and I'll try to come up with the goods.

Thanks dude
i'd really appreciate that

of course some Morbid Angel style riffs, anything off of Domination or Gateways

and then some whacky solo sounds, from them as well
and some nice creamy DT solo sounds if you want...

Thanks for helping me out by the way

I'd be interested as well, I've held out on buying a TriAxis for a long time, but I'm slowly crumbling

I'll see what I can do, hopefully tommorow I'll be able to mail it to you guys.

Edit: Just realised that this means I have to display my abysmal abilities to the world...uh oh...

Dude
Don't worry about your ability
my ability does not negate me spending the 5K or so I am on a rack system

so no worries there.

but please make sure the clips are as dry as possible
if you want to make some alternate clips with effects then thats cool too

thanks again dude

The rythm sound I like is dry. I'll be using the triaxis record output jacks direct to my 8 track, and will also record from the speaker, so you can hear both. That sounds like the best to me. I'll keep any lead stuff devoid of any delay/reverb as well. If I remember all this (being blond makes it slightly doubtfull, but I'll write it down ) I might as well do the same riff through different preamps as well, just for comparison. I'll try to get the sound quality as good as I can, but I am no recording guru, so it might be a bit pants

Well I can do with it being "a bit pants" because I'd prefer it to be as real world as possible without the studio chrome

What volumes do you play at? and what poweramp are you using?

Thanks

I gave recording a go yesterday, and being put on the spot did miracles for my creativity (as in: what the f*** do I play???!!??), but I did play around with sounds and mike's and direct recording.

What basically transpired is that mike'd recording straight in seems to give me a better picture of what the sound is like, although it does mean that I have come to the conclusion that I am not wholly satisfied with my sound, so I'll be playing about with it a bit more tonight while trying to think of worthwhile things to commit to tape.

Don't worry about it being real world, I just plan to put up clips with no effects/eq applied after recording. It'll be straight in straight out, even if that means it's not going to sound that good.

As for the power amp I use, I basically run the triaxis out into the FX return of an old 70-71 marshall super 100w lead head that I've had an FX loop built into. This then runs through a JCM800 4x12 Bass cab Sometimes it also gets run through a very old marshall cab (70's I think, but I am not sure at all...). Volume? Well, I'll put it this way: due to some freak occurance I have no neighbours, so pretty much as loudly as I want to. And yes, I am going deaf.

So I'll pretty much be miking up the cab (first time I've attempted this, so any suggestions + tips will be welcome) and running the whole thing at a nice loud volume. Any objections to this? I can always take the record out from the triaxis, but this just doesn't do it justice...(Nor do my recording skills either, I just can't get it to sound like it does in real life...)

Chris, I started recording last night, just through my studio 22 just to show you how much gain you should be able to get, and tonight if I can, I will drag the TRi-axis out of storage and run it ballz out. Recording is going like this, Mesa cab into a AT4033 mic at about 6"s from the cone center just slightly off axis to chill the low end rumble, into a Yamaha Promix board into my sound card ( haven't gotten the motu yet) and recorded on cool edit 2000 with the studio plug in. Count on it being dry. I should have something for ya tonight or tomorrow night.
