Tube replacement

I am looking forward to replace the poweramp Tubes (EL34) of my Carvin Legacy amp. Will i have to change the BIAS settings with the P11 Pot? If so, is there a tutorial especialy for the legacy anywhere in the www?

Re: Tube replacement

You should get the amp biased to the optimal bias settings. That way you get the best sound without eating tubes.

Re: Tube replacement

its best to get it biased..... but if you just must....you can pop the new ones in..... and if it sounds good to you then your good to go..

most bias adjustments have a pretty good spread for there range..most times replacing tubes with the same type your probably good

and check to make sure the tubes glow nice and orange..if you see alot of purple blue color its most likley a bad tube...

if your like me..you dont like taking your head down just to replace tubes......my music store will keep it for a week......just dont blame me if you blow something lol

Re: Tube replacement

i recently had my power amp tubes replaced in my legacy. JJ EL34's. i made sure to have a tech do it, because i have no idea what i'm doing in that sense. when replacing preamp tubes you usually don't need to set the bias. but it's a good idea to bias when replacing the power tubes. they have guides on the carvin bbs. good luck!
