Tude Question

Well got my peavey butcher head but I have a question about it's tubes. First it has two 5881 sovteks and two 6L6 Groove Tubes, will this effect the sound quality since there are two different types of tubes in there? Secound, the sovteks say "made in the ussr", so I'm thinking there kinda old. So should I replace them? Thanks.

Tude Question

the sovteks are current production models. The groove tube would be older.

Tude Question

They still make groove tubes, don't they?

[edit]I know they still make sovteks, what made me think they were old is they say "made in the ussr"

Tude Question

they still make groove tube, I really dont know enough to say here, but as far as I know the butcher came equiped with 3 12ax7's and four 6L6's ( that would suggest that the grooves are older) and someone added the sovtecks after.

Id switch em all back to 6L6's (maybe JJ's or stick with the original groove tubes).
