Re: Ultex Jazz III review
I got a pick from JD and i love it. Although I loathe the normal size Ultex, in Jazz III form it's perfect.

Re: Ultex Jazz III review
oh my heck. this is awesome. barring vai picks, jazzIIIs and the regular ultexes have been my favorite, and i've played the ultexes because they just last longer. this makes me distastefully happy.

Re: Ultex Jazz III review
why do people keep saying that red and black Jazz III pics sound different? How are they different other than color? I use both and haven't noticed. What should I be looking for?
It does bother me that they wear out so easily.

To me it's more that they feel different and respond differently because of the different material type. Never thought about sound, but I'd imagine the red's would be more trebly because of the seemingly denser material.

Re: Ultex Jazz III review
thats pathetic... I never even noticed they were made from different materials!
It's ok... I will NOT be posting samples of my playing.

Re: Ultex Jazz III review
I notice absolutely no difference in the red and blacks. I will buying some Ultex, though. Sounds exactly like what I need. I like the large Jazz III (red, of course, I like the colour).
Cheers for the review.

The reds gave a bit more "snap" to them and a brighter tone. I find the blacks are a bit duller/smoother sounding. They're very similar though.
I'm looking forward to trying the Ultex III out too.

Re: Ultex Jazz III review
Again, I find no difference at all, and I've really tried to hear and feel whatever difference there is.
I also mailed 'em and got a reply. They're sending me a sample. Cool!

Re: Ultex Jazz III review
Strings Direct in the UK will be having them in stock in a couple of weeks.
Dee - the difference between red/black is subtle but it's there

Re: Ultex Jazz III review
I agree with bikeman. I can notice and feel a difference between the two. To me the black ones have a slightly harder tone/feel and digs in deeper to the strings.
I prefer the tone of the red ones more.
It looks like i'll be waiting awile longer for the Ultex's. They were supposed to come with the guitar, but because they still haven't been released it seems i'll be ordering them in separately.

Anne, drop an email to 'em, they'll send out a free sample. If I get more than one I'll send you one.

Re: Ultex Jazz III review
I can feel a more noticeable difference in the tactile quality than in the tone, but the differences are there as well, and they're really subtle.
I like both the blacks and the reds, both regular and XL versions. I figure I'll order a few bags of the
Ultex Jazz III
's, and *then* Dunlop will come out with an
Ultex Jazz
III XL.
