Ultimate hard rock 40-60 watt 1x12 tube combo?????
I am looking for an all tube 1x12 combo, between 40-60 watts. The way I see it, there are the following choices:
Peavey XXX 1x12 60w
Marshall DSL401
Mesa F50
Any more suggestions to check out? I really am not a huge Fender fan, and I would like to keep it sub $1000, which these all fall under.

Carvin Nomad
springs to mind... there must be a lot of amps in this range though?

Moreso than the Mesa F series, I'd recommend the Nomad series. I have a Nomad 45 1x12, and it absolutely rocks! 3 channels (2 modes per channel), solo boost, parallel FX loops,
spring reverb
, and all tube, of course.

i will HEARTILY second the
Mesa Nomad
..tons better tone than the F50 and the extra channel and more modes than you can shake a stick at as bduersch rightly said. The 45 also has the extreme mode! which is very beefy

Damn that was fast. The Carvin Nomad looks cool, but I was thinking something that will release the fooking fuurrrrryyyy!!!
I'll check out the Mesa Nomad, I hadn't thought about that. Anyone know how much it retails for?

Can't remember what the retail is, but I paid ~$575 used for my Nomad 45. Worth every penny! Mine's got plenty of fury, and I'm not even using "extreme" mode!

I'd look at a Rivera combo... they're a bit less "metal" than the Mesas, but it sounds like thats what youre after. Something like an R-series, or Fandango/chubster if you want a punchier more "modern" tone

I got's to go to GC and try out the Nomad, and then see if I can find a good deal on a used one. Something tells me if the F50 is 1K new, the Nomad is probably quite a bit more.

the 45 watt one is probably just under that, actually. A 55 will probably set you back 1100-1200, though.

Someone also mentioned to me to check out the Rivera Fandango 55 1x12. It's supposedly a fine sounding amp.

Traynor YCV40 + a good OD pedal...
Very nice lil' 40 watt all-tube 1x12 combo...
Goes from very clean to mid crunch and push the overdrive channel with a good pedal and you'll be into hard rock territory...
I used to play mine on top a Marshall 4x12 and it was rockin'!!!
