Unusual p/u suggestion request
ok, now i have a shiney new RG570, and I want new pick ups for it. now i dont need to be told 'paf pro neck,
tone zone bridge
.....search the forums before you bug us!' because im looking for somthing different
I want somthing that sounds thick and creamy, and isnt really high output. I play through a
peavey classic
50 amp, so im not looking for great shred pickups, but more of a nice vintagey creamy warm kinda tone, yet pickups that can still scream when plugged into my bud's peavey VTM 120, or a marshall high gain half stack. I know im probably chasing my tail on this, but what the hell im going to guess at least 1 person out there plays southern rock (which i dont, but thats the kind of sound im lookin for) with thier RG
Im trying to make it sound somewhat closer to my Artist AR250 with gibson 57 classics, perhaps a little more rockin

Maybe
Duncan Pearly Gates
?
Can't get more southern-rockin' than that.

darn you Darren...you beat me to it. I highly agree that suggestion with Pearly Gate pickups. 2 of them for neck and bridge would be great. Very southern blue rock type sound...very vintage and creamy yet can get higher gain when needed. Great pickup too.

Ok, I know it sounds weird, but a
Seymour Duncan
JB jr. in middle position could be your answer. What you really want is a triple humbucker LP, right?

well euphor, yes and no
basically the RG stock pups have FAR too much output for my peavey classic 50. So i want to get a nice warm tone, but without the mega ultra super high blow your head off output. the way it is now, if i play my artist, then plug my rg into the amp at the same settings, its at least double the volume. its nuts! and it sounds thin without gain with those stock Vintage 7 and 8 pups. I just want some pickups that I can still plug into a marshall stack n tear it up, but that wont sound like total ass in my classic 50 :O

You may want to think about Rio Grande Tallboys. I just put an H/S/H set in a G&L ASAT. Frigging amazing. Plus it's a little different than the Duncan/DiMarzio norm. And you can get wacky colors too. ;-) I'll pop a pic on Jemsite for you - you'll see why the guitar's name is "Elvis".
The Tallboys are not as high output as their Muy Grande model and the humbuckers when split are true single coils, so the sounds are really great. I've got Elvis wired for 15 different pickup combinations (5 way speed blade, 2 coil taps, and a toggle for the neck). Not a bad sound among them.
I haven't noticed a need for more power in the bridge but you can always put a Muy Grande in the bridge and use Tallboys for the neck and middle.

BZ, there used to be a area where we could post pics but I can't find it anymore. Maybe I'm just impatient. I thought it would be the Multimedia forum but that didn't seem to be it. If you'd like a pic or more info on the Rios, just give me a shout and I'll email it to you.
By the way, their URL is:
