Using a tubed mic pre for guitar?

Just for giving it an extra boost? Even if its slight. Realistic or just a stupid thought?

I suppose it's possible, but considering that even a half decent tube mic pre is way more expensive that a good booster pedal it's not very smart economicly wise.

Have a look at ART MP tube pres if you think good ones are expensive.

For the money, I think the Focusrite Trakmaster pro is probably the best "amateur priced" preamp.

the tube mp's are ok but more gimmicky than practical from the ones I've heard.
