In case anyone is interested, I just had a Bitmo mod installed in my Valve Junior. I went with the Trio Mod.
Anyway here is my first night review of it. I used a Light Ash Tele with stock Duncans and an RS wire kit and a 76
Les Paul Custom with Duncans (a Jazz and a JB) Enjoy.
First impression is the Bitmo Mod is pretty cool. It has 3 very distinct voices and has a really nice "spank" with the Tele. Lots of bite without being overly harsh, and warm without being muddy on other voicings. Not a bad use of $50.
Now onto the bad. The mod seemed to introduce some noise into the amp unless the tone knob is set to either 0 or 10, but this may be installer error, the guy installed the knob and toggle so it looks great, but the instructions tell you to put them a certain way to reduce hum. The "screaming, over the top, amp goes to "11" gain" that the maker was saying just isnt there. Maybe, MAYBE if you turn the volume all the way up you can get that but at reasonable volumes you wont. It does break up nicely, but it's definately NOT high gain. All in all I would reccomend it to people, but just be warned that if you are looking for a lot of gain, the amp just doesnt have it. I really didnt expect it to have it, but when one of the reviews on the **** add said "This amp replaced my
Dual Recto", it kind of leads you to think there is a ton of gain on tap.
