For all of those familiar with both speakers, which do you prefer?
My options to replace the 75 watt Celestions with is either the Classic Lead 80 or the 70 watt version of the Vintage 30s, which I believe are nearly identical except wattage (which makes me lean to the Classic Leads because the Major is a beast as for output wattage... ie for safety!)
The amps are a 96 Marshall JCM 900 SL-X, and a 69 Marshall Major.
I never get a chance to play a cab with the Classic 80s, so I am going on faith / trust in others opinions here.
UPDATE:
I have 2 JCM 800 series Marshall cabinets, from when they were handwired, and I dont think they were birch, so they are pretty good cabinets. Pretty good cabinets, you have to pay around $1200 for a new Marshall handwired cabinet these days comprable.
But I don't use the straight one, just the angeled one. I have an offer for 4 speakers of my choosing for my straight cab. This description on harmony central is what I have always heard about the Classic Leads, and is EXACTLY what I am looking for from a speaker too!

Sounds pretty good?
