Wah becoming volume!?! - help me, pleeze!

Why is my Cry Baby slightly turning to a volume pedal?
Is not a battery to be replaced, cause I use AC adapter.
It's not that good *WAAAH* thing it used to do weeks ago. It's beginning to fade off the volume when the pedal is all cranked down (closed tone). I can't even hear the note!
Do I have to change the pot inside?

Wah becoming volume!?!

Whenever i have experienced this problem, it has been low battery problems.. This sounds strange... *Change all the components in the chain and check cords, etc... If nothing helps, take the wahwah to service...

Wah becoming volume!?!

With my Korg AX-1G (I wouldn't recommend this piece of crap to anyone) running before my amp, it does the thing Al M described in his last post, and if I put it in the effects loop, it does what the original post is talking about (also with an AC adapter). *One thing I find helps is putting it before the amp and trying to adjust your EQ settings a bit.

It might depend on how you have the wah in the setup. *In my setup, I have it the very first (With the tuner before it) pedal in the chain. *It will also make a difference where you have it hooked up. *Do you have it before (A.K.A inline) the amp or do you have it in the FX loop? *On my setup, that makes a HUGE difference. *Hope I could help:biggrin:

You should keep all WAH, VOLUME, DISTORTION, OVERDRIVE and COMPRESSION pedals out of your effects loop. Plug your guitar or wireless unit into the pedals and then into the main input on the front of your amp.

I like to go into the WAH first and VOLUME second. The other way around seems to decrease the amount of wah effect when the volume pedal is set to less than maximum.

Save your effects loop (if your amp has one) for Modulation (Chorus, Flanger, Phase Shift, Tremolo), Filter (Synth, MuTron, etc.) and Delay (Echo, Reverb) type effects.

Wah becoming volume!?!

After years of P.A.S. (Pedals), I trashed the hell out, and now I plug my Iby to the Cry Baby > TubeScreamer > amps main input.

I tryed all what you suggested me but... nothing.
I think I'll replace the pot inside the Cry Baby.

Thanx guys!

Try changing the potmeter in the Wah!
You'll not just get rid of the volum problem, but you'll also get a "new" wah! *

edit:
Sorry, did'n read your last post nuno

Wah becoming volume!?!

If your wah pedal is acting like a volume pedal, A) your battery is dead or B) your wah pedal has a dead inductor. It's a common problem for older Vox and Crybaby wah's to have an inductor go on them and then they behave like volume pedals. If you're good with a soldering iron, you can fix it yourself for $5-10, but I can't imagine it would cost too much more at a proper electronics shop to get fixed, or sent back to the manufacturer.

i tried my wah again today, and mysteriuosly it seems to be working fine again! the only thing i can think of that has changed is the temperature of the rooms where u have been using it. Could this make any difference?

Thanks guys!
Al M, you're right, mine does the same thing: sometimes it works fine, some others it works bad! Damn!
Anyway, I think I'll follow Kremlin'suggest.
Thanx again!
