Wah Pedals - Costs/Recommendations

I'm looking for a good wah pedal for about $100 Canadian (PLEASE DON'T QUOTE ME AMERICAN PRICES!!!). *I've seen a few Crybaby's going for about *$70 in catalogues and on the net, but my local guitar shop (the only one I've checked so far, I'll be checking more) sells them for $170!! *What's a decent price for a Crybaby? *What are some other good wah pedals? *What I'd really like is sort of the Kirk Hammet-y wah sound (i.e. Bleeding Me, The Outlaw Torn). *Let me know.

Wah Pedals

IMO - I got a Morley bad horsie wah on Ecto-Bay a month or so ago and can honestly say, if you don't have one, you don't have a wah. What a dream! optical electronics, so the pot doesn't get all "sandpaper" and it's spring loaded - step on - it's on, step off - it's off. And the off delay rate is adjustable.

Very nice.

I agree, the Bad Horsie is excellent, switchless which is good for me, I never have to "stomp on it" to get it to work. I also have a Dunlop original wah, but never got into it because of the switch.

Wah Pedals

Has anyone hooked up their Bad Horsie's to a 7 string (a Universe especially)? Just wanted to know if the wah would sound great with one.

Bad Horsie is good...handles distortion well. *I also like the 535Q...can usually be had for under $100 US on ebay.

Wah Pedals

Sorry for my ignorance, guys, but what it means 'switchless wah'?
I mean, how does it works?
I got an original Dunlop one, which needs to be clicked 'ON' with a stomp, as you know.
So: does the switchless wah work without the need to be clicked 'ON'? Is it ever 'ON'?
Please, let me know. Thanx.

Nuno,
Switchless being you don't have to "click" it on, you put your foot on the wah and it's on, take foot off and it turns off, no actual footswitch has to be depressed.

The only problem with this system is because it is switchless it has to be spring-loaded and not "rocker" like other wah's.
This means you can't position the pedal in a certain place and use it as a tone device (well you can, but you'd have to leave your foot on it in the exact position)

Personally I prefer the Dunlop's, but I did have a BH and it also had it's plus points.

Some other good wah's:-
check out the Danelectro Dano-Wah. It's pretty neat and can replicate quite a few different wah sounds/styles and is also quite cheap.

The Budda Bud-Wah+ looks pretty neat, obviously a quality pedal but the Volume swell feature intrigues me. Drawback? - $225

Steve

Vox wah pedals. I love 'em. If you can, try to find one they did a while back, it was a silver one (instead of the silver/black normal ones) and compared to the standard vox's they have more wah! The standard vox's sound damn cool too though.

Don't know how much they cost though, but that's because I haven't bought one for 4/5 years now...

I just got a Dunlop 95Q
its great, its switchless, has a vol boost, and has the Q control to change the shape of the wah sound which is great! and only $109 with the adapter at musicansfriend can't beat it!
I've had a bad horsey a vox and a crybaby and this beats them all

Hey TwoHands, if memory serves me correct... you have a Flextone, right? *

If you're all set to blow $100 on a wah pedal, why not save a bit longer and get the Line 6 Floor board which gives you a very decent wah, volume pedal, and the ability to instantly change to any of the presets on your flextone.

Just a thought... I know some people just have to have a real physical pedal.
