The Hipshot Tremsetter allows you to have a good return to pitch, and a way better tuning stability. It's a spring loaded device that you have to put in the middle spring place of the tremolo system.
Donno about that WD trem stabilizer, but think it's a similar thing, just another brand.

To me, the best thing ever made (but, like all best things of the world, no more available), is the Ibanez BackStop system: I got one on my '87 Radius and... damn, it works great!
It allows you to get a perfect tuning even in case of a string break.
Also, like the Hipshot, it maintains the tremolo always at perfect tuning. God Vai uses it too on most of his guitars.

Many ppl say that those devices give the tremolo a bit of stiffness. It's true, but it worth it!

my €1.00

I removed that from my 88, and my 87 didn't have it (or it was previously removed).

Doesn't allow certain whammy tricks. *I seem to remember, long ago... there was a device that LOCKED your bridge when you moved the arm to a certain position. *Otherwise it was floating. *THAT's what I want, and I don't think it would be that hard to do. *String breaks, move arm to position, and you have a fixed bridge. *It would take some setup, and that would change with different string gauges, but...

Some of the Kahler trems that were Floyd Rose-licensed had such a feature. I don't know if anyone's done it as well... the only similar product i've seen in recent years is a bar holder that you attach to the face of your guitar. Swing the bar around and lock it into the bracket and it fixes the bridge in place. Crude, but effective.

I like the switch on my Parker that locks out downward trem motion... very handy.

I think you guys are talking about a Tremstop by Schaller.

I knew the Steinberger & Parker did that; I meant an aftermarket add on. *The tremstop might be it. *Any idea who sells these? *A web search turned up nothing...
