Weird distorted sounds comin from my amp

Hi - i had my amp in storage (mesa nomad 45) for about a 2 weeks; moved to a new apartment. Got it today and plugged it in. However, when i use the distortion (channels 2,3), any notes on the 6th and 5th strings sound doubled. They sound like they are "harmonized". This doesn't happen when i use the clean channel. What is going on? Any advice would be suggested cause i am almost considering dumping this amp and getting a solid state amp (oh no, lol).

thanks

jeff

Well, if you feel like getting rid of it, give me a call! Hehe

Anywho, it sounds like a power tube might have been jostled hard
enough to damage a plate. You might at least want to try unplugging
each tube (while the amp is off and unplugged!!) and reseating them.
If that doesn't fix it, take it into an amp tech.

Might need some tubes,my best guess, since thats usually the source of any strange behavior in my mesa's.Unless you had it stored in a bad environment(excessive humidity).Thats a killer amp dude, keep it. mike

thanks so far for the advice--
i reseated all the power and preamp tubes. Now it happens completely when i use the 2 and 3 channels (distorted). However, it still doesn't happen on channel one (clean), but i pushed channel one so that i get distortion and it's fine. The notes are normal so to speak.
Could it be the preamp tubes for channels 2/3?
What would the excessive humidity do to the amp?

thanks

Worst case scenario for MONDO humidity, it will assist your pots and sockets in rusting or becoming dirty. aside from that, not much more can happen. Most likely you have a bad preamp tube, I would swap em out with some know good ones if you can.

Actually brought it in,,,,,,,no problem that the amp tech could find. He played the amp over the phone. Went over there with MY guitar, and nothing - no sound. Plugged the amp tech's guitar in - perfect.
MY guitar was the culprit - doh!!!
Another thing to fix, oh well, at least the amp is fine.

thanks everyone for thier time and advice,

jeff
