-1: *I was answering the title of the thread. *:-)

The answer to your question is: *AJ307CENT
(Oddly enough, it's on page 7 of the 2001 Ibanez Acoustic Catalog.)

6 STRINGS woo HOO!!

the number of strings on your guitar doesnt make you heavy, YOU make yourself heavy.

* I think that was stated already, the majority just seems to think that the 7 string guitar makes it better because of the expanded access to more notes in any position.

i love the idea and feel of the seven, but the six just works better for me because the trem is more spongy and its just impossible to duplicate the tone of an evo-6 pickup in a seven. *i wish i could get a seven to feel and sound like a 6, but it just wont happen.

&, all the way, the normal guitar's just don't feel the same, and I like the expanded register.

And yeah, you do have to be heavy to start of with, the guitar won't help with that too much....

I'll go with 6 untill I can find a good 7. The only good 7's comercially available are Ibanezes, or guitars that want to be Ibanezes, *and I don't particulary like Ibanez at all. However, a seven string Anderson, Valey Arts, Suhr or other guitar of that school would be interesting. Probably way too expensive, though...

My experience has shown me:
use a 6 string on a song written for a 6 string and
a 7 string for songs written for 7 string.

Right now I'm capable of switching instantaneously between the two types of guitars without any difficulty. So it doesn't make any difference for me.
But if I were left to only one guitar it would be a
7 string.

I also use both & love them each for different things but if i had to choose I guess I'm traditional, I'd go with my 6, an RG550-

I say 6 because there is so much theory out there....once you add that 7th string it pretty much doubles....almost triples in theory....I don't like the sound either....they always sound out of tune....and the low B string is just....too low for my tastes...I like heavy music....but as far as I'll tune down is 1/2 step then drop to D...

ok, i prefere a 6 string now, because i don´t have a 7 string But i´m in a "hurry" to get one... specially an ibanez (of course) I love the heavy riffs you can do on a 7 string, the licks you can do, the octaves you pull on it, not to mention the long arpeggios with all that sweep tap n slide
Man i have to get one of those...

Seeya

God bless you all
