What do you think of GuitarPort?

I was wondering what people thought of GuitarPort. I did a search and found 2 year old threads so i thought id see if anyone had a different opinion or used one after these threads. Can you hook it up to your amp and use it as a pre amp like a pod? Would I be better off getting something different if i were looking for something like this?

I tried out guitarport around 6 months ago. It wasn't quite what i thought it would be. I had trouble running it on my pc. It has some pretty kewl features in it. I just use a pod and thats suits me just fine. You can also run the guitar port through your amp. I would suggest to try one out. Whereabouts in Nova Scotia are you if i can ask? I'm from the valley.

You can't really hook the guitar port up to anything but a computer. It's all right for what it does, and if you want a computer amp simulator for recording or practicing, it's a great tool for the price. The online resources aren't up really all that -cool for the first few months but the content's wanting and wears thin quickly - so don't buy one for the "online guitar lessons" side of things. I own one and I'll keep it because I got it for $30 or something (bought a Guitar Port OLP pack and sold the guitar for nearly what I paid for the whole package), but it's not all that... If you want a real preamp, you need a POD, or something else, anyway...

GuitarPort

I'm not really sold on this whole amp modelling thing but I use my Guitar Port a lot for recording and practising. I record into Cuebase SX mainly just to hear and track my progres and to save ideas. You can manipulate the audio file like slow it down it check your accuracy and record yoursefl along with a backing track. Its then easy to burn it to cd or to my iPod.

Don't get me wrong, I'd never use it for anything but home or studio use and my Marshall's are the only thing I'd use when playing out but imo its a very useful tool. I don't bother with the Live element though, too much $$$ and weak content last time I looked.
