What do you use when you don't have a pick?

Hey guys, im not sure if this is the correct place to post this thread, but please move it if its not.

I wanted to know what others use to play guitar if the dont have a pick handy.

ive tried using my fingers, but that sucks.

ive also tried making little "paper picks" out of cardboard or worksheets i find lying around in school.

what do you guys do?

Put a dime in my pocket and run to the music store

I've got so many old picks laying around I don't really have to worry about it. Plus I could always pull one of my Vai *light without heat* off the wall (if worse came to worse) I remember in an emergency situation I used a matchbook cover and it worked okay. (except for sweeping / AH)

Nothing works as good as a real plectrum

+1

I have so many picks laying around here, it would be next to impossible to not have one on hand. Hell, I take 2-3 in my back pocket when I go out shopping, or on trips, in case there's a guitar shop.

The bones of my enemies.

usually guitar stores around here have pics in stock, so not having one isnt much of an issue

if you cant make it to the music store for some reason, cut a piece off of an old library card or old id or something credit card like plastic. (assuming you can find scissors)

My wallet has a zipped pocket for that very reason. I go nowhere without a pick.

Re: What do you use when you don't have a pick?

If I'm at school and I need to play the guitar, a quarter usually does the trick for me. Not the best, but doable.

Other than that, I have LOADS of picks, and I might order some more (Herdim dimpled picks to get the Edge's sound).
