What EQ do you have?

How do you like your amp EQed? )Mids boosted...Highs boosted...Mids scooped...etc...)

Is your main EQ amp or pedal based?

What amp do you use with this setting, why, and for what styles do you play?

Re: What EQ do you have?

I like a decent amount of mids in my tone, with not too much treble or bass. I use a Mesa TriAxis, which is very midrangy. I set the mids around 6, treble 6 and bass 3.5 (lots of bass on the TriAxis too). I use the Dynamic Voice on 4, which lowers the mids slightly and ups the treble a bit, this adds a little bite and appears to add a small amount of gain.

I can quite happily use that tone for everything, but for a tight metal tone, i tend to prefer less mids, i set the treble around 7, mids on 4, and use the DV on 7, which really scoops a lot of the mids out. Keep in mind though that the amp is very midrangy to begin with, so a lot of the mids are still present, they just arent as overpowering as before, and dont get muddy as quickly.

When recording i use a MXR 10 Band EQ to re-adjust the requencies before the recording interface. If i had a combo amp, i'd probably use this in the loop as its a really good pedal .

Re: What EQ do you have?

Thats a really nice preamp module you have there AirGuitar!

I too have my mids boosted, cuts through in the band environment and gives that great crystal clear soloing tone that I love...

T6 M8.5 B6 on my JSX, and it sounds very nice

I would like a TriAxis but I don't have the money right now ;(

Re: What EQ do you have?

It depends on the amp, I normally set it up bass 6 or 6.5ish with mid 4 and treble 4, And on my boss EQ pedal I setup the mid fairly a bit high, I only use it when I'm soloing. Needed the mid boost

Re: What EQ do you have?

I'm a trebley kinda lad. So I typically go Bass -4/5 , Mid -7/8 and Treble- 9/10. On my cleans I cut it back a little though.

For my general tone I go with my 5150 comb's tone controls set like this
bass/3.5,mids/5,trebel/7.5,resonance2.5,presence7.2.Its good all around rock sound, for leads I'm going to be using a MXR 108 10 band eq set for strong mids.

Re: What EQ do you have?

I have an old school setup, so I go the pedal way. I use a MIJ Boss EQ-7 for now and I'm planning to do that Sniper Mod on it as soon as I find some schematics.
