I like a decent amount of mids in my tone, with not too much treble or bass. I use a
Mesa TriAxis, which is very midrangy. I set the mids around 6, treble 6 and bass 3.5 (lots of bass on the TriAxis too). I use the Dynamic Voice on 4, which lowers the mids slightly and ups the treble a bit, this adds a little bite and appears to add a small amount of gain.
I can quite happily use that tone for everything, but for a tight metal tone, i tend to prefer less mids, i set the treble around 7, mids on 4, and use the DV on 7, which really scoops a lot of the mids out. Keep in mind though that the amp is very midrangy to begin with, so a lot of the mids are still present, they just arent as overpowering as before, and dont get muddy as quickly.
When recording i use a MXR 10 Band EQ to re-adjust the requencies before the recording interface. If i had a
combo amp, i'd probably use this in the loop as its a really good pedal
