What is the best wah

So , what do you think the best wah is. At the moment im considering the morly bad horsie 2 or ibanez wd7 weeping deamon. this is my first wah and i want to get the best one i can. I love Vai's wah tone but im also a big kirk hammett fan.

I've got a Boss PW-10. It's supposed to model Dunlop and Morley wahs, plus it makes some cool voice sounds.

I'd recommend it but I haven't tried the Bad Horsie or Ibanez pedals

I bought some of them and kept the Cry Baby. I did not like the Morley at all. There was a very cheap one named "musicsound" that was quite good too.

Re: What is the best wah

I had an original Crybaby and it was terrible. I used it to hold open a window for years. Maybe I just had a bad one. Now I have a Morley PWA II and it is much better. Don't let people turn you off the Morley's. Try one for yourself.

Re: What is the best wah

I'm having major wah dilemas at the moment actually.

I have had a bad horsie 1 for about well sdince they came out in 97 or something and the thing has served me very well however it really is good for one thing and thats searing rock leads. For funk or more sublt creative wah work it really is no good. However the switchless auto on think is the bomb.

I tried the bad horsie 2 thinkin it would be the same but with more tonal options however to my ears that sounded even more focussed for rock than the BH1 I couldnt get a good sound/feel out of the BH2 at all. So if you have your heart set on a moreley then get either the bad horsie 1 or alternativley the Mark Tremonti morley is a good pedal too. Certainly better than the BH2

I've been experimenting with a 535Q cry baby at the moment and its cool but i think its more of a retro keyboard wah more than a guitar players wah..i relaly feel like i only need the Q not the notch filters

Which is bringing me to the 95Q which form what I believe is a Q controlled wah with the same auto on switchless a amorle. Which excites me a lot! If this works out for me then I'll be having to use 2 wahs on my pedal board but I guess its worth the real estate to get the versitality.

I dunno what the BEST is its all subjective, what you gonna be playing with it? I ceritnaly wouldnt recommend a moreley if you're going for funky lines old school rock wah or rhythm work because its totally geared for the shred rock tone.

Of course if Fulltone did the clyde in a switchless version then boom thats the one. Most of my pedal board is going fulltone at the moment and i cant look back! However I cant get used to swithced wahs, i forget i need to step on the wah until 1 beat before i need to and I'd never switch it on in time...I'm too used ot the srpingy Bad Horsie lol

Re: What is the best wah

have only had a crybaby and a BH2.

I find the BH2 is quite good.. though i have to be careful with amp settings etc... I mostly use it for funk stuff and its does me fine.... it adds a bit of a signal boost which is abit annoying ... maybe i should get a new one..

though i do shre the same problem in i only generally stand on hte wah on the precise moment i need it.. switching it on and off would be bad for me.. i guess i could learn though

Re: What is the best wah

I've gone through just about every Dunlop available (Hendrix, original, 95Q, 535, 535Q, etc.) as well as both Bad Horsies and a few Vox's. I've finally settled on the Teese RMC3. GREAT wah, and I've found the overall tone to be a bit better than the Fulltone Clydes. It's insanely versatile too with the bank of DIP switches onboard. Pretty cool!

Anyone try the new Ibanez weeping demon? It's true bypass, switchless, adjustable everything. Just looks a little weird.

That's exactly what I do... I use both a 95Q and (original) Bad Horsie. I use the 95Q for clicky-funk clean and the Bad Horsie for solos. I'm a sucker for anything switchless.

That said, the Weeping Demon is really intriguing... I almost bought one at Sam Ash today out of sheer curiosity. It's got some really cool features... 4 knobs for tonal tweaking, plus the ability to switch it between switchless (spring-loaded) and switched (floating)--how unique is that? Seems to be pretty sturdy, too. I've just come to find that anything that "models" other wahs has been disappointing, so I've been skeptical of the W.D. just because of past experience.

Re: What is the best wah

The weeping deamon isnt actually a modelling wah, ppl just think that coz its so tweakable. Its not digital - totally analogue and its not trying to modal any pedals.

Re: What is the best wah

but it looks cool. i have a morley classic wah and i love that thich sound it produces. doesn't really give the Vai wah sound but it works well for the funk songs i play. most guitar players think i'm an idiot using that for some solos sometimes..

Yeah, I did a lot of reading last night on the W.D. after I posted, and realized it's not really a modeling wah. I think I originally got that impression because so many people compare it to the Boss, which certainly is a modeling wah. I'm giving much more serious consideration to picking one up now, since a lot of the reviews on Harmony Central praise it for funk work. (My biggest gripe with the Crybaby 95Q is that it's relatively hot, so it's hard to maintain a good clean tone for funk work.)
