What Kind of guitar does the guy from Staind play? - Is it t

What does anybody know about that guitar? I have no access to any guitar mags here, so I have no info other than what I've seen on tv and in concert.

A beautiful guitar, though...

I think it's a Custom model, based on the Radius design.
The body seems to be mahogany, with maple neck & ebony board.
I wish to know what pick-ups does it sports.

Who knows?

Umm, sorry Nuno, but it's actually a baritone { 27" scale neck } guitar based on the S Classic . It's mahagony with an ebony fretboard, not too sure about neck wood...probably maple or mahagony. I don't know about the pickups, either, maybe someone else can answer that question. It's a gorgeous guitar, Ibanez should make it a signature model and produce it. I'd buy it ! Hope that helps , (^)ben(^)

eh a student of Tony McAlpine can't be all that bad :silly: .. but playing aside, I like the guitar too (based on the looks, that is) . Don't know if I'd get one if it's available, but I sure wouldn't mind trying it out

The guitar Mike Mushok is pictured with in Ibanez ads and catalogs is based on the S Classic, but the ones he uses in the videos is definitely different.

It looks like a Radius style body to me (oiled mahogany), and it looks like the scale length is significantly longer than 27". The bridge/tailpiece is right at the back end of the body, like a bass.

The two i've seen in their most recent videos seem to be outfitted with different pickups. One seems to have Bartolinis or some other soapbar-style bass pickups. The other appears to have standard guitar pickups in cream rings.

Hmm.....all these "nu-metal" guitarists...tuning low, fat strings, longer scale, tailpiece like a bass. *Sounds like they just want to play bass or better yet, do both with a chapman stick! *
just a little humor, in response to your question, I have no idea, but it is a nice looking guitar, and an S-series guitar with a hardtail and P-90's sounds very nice! *They made one in red a few years back, don't know if its still in production or not

Unless there's one I haven't seen, nuno and Darren got it right. He has 2 oil finished Radius or JS bodied (can't remember the switch arrangement, but my first reaction was Radius) with SC type headstocks. I think one had a pair of P90's and the other only had one pickup somewhere between where the buckers would be? At least that's what he was playing live.

In magazine articles and ads, Mike himself has referred to them as custom s classics with a baritone neck, though I believe he started using the baritone just recently, not on the first album, so...

Thanx Rich, these guys are blind.

The S shape features squared edges (Frank Gambale), the Radius shape features rounded edges (Joe Satriani).
Watch carefully both Mushok's grey/black model and oil-finished model, and you'll realize they both have rounded edges. So, they are based on the Radius design.
Period.
Doesn't matter if Ibanez pictured him for the S series' ads, and doesn't matter if Ibanez says 'He plays an S series'.
Use your eyes.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * Well, the reason i said that he plays S Classics is because i've read numerous interviews with him in which HE SAYS that he plays S Classics. He also stated that he still uses that old Artist that he had in the Mudshovel video. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *Bammbamm, i wouldn't say he sucks. No, i've never heard him do a string-skipping diminished arpeggio set at 32nd notes at 160 beats-per-minute, but he does make some pretty interesting melodies at least. I will say that i like him FAR more than a lot of the guys that are popular in todays " metal " scene { i.e. Head, Monkey, Slipknot guys, Disturbed's guy, Wes Borland }..he's creative. And i'd say that he's retained some of what he learned from MacAlpine, but he just does't use it. A frenzied shred solo would just sound kind of funny in a Staind song, think about it. So, that's what i think. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *`~'ben'~`

I guess it depends when the interviews were done. I skimmed a recent interview with him and it just mentioned that he swears by "custom Ibanez baritone guitars". Maybe there's a signature model brewing and he's not allowed to say anything until Ibanez is ready to start marketing it.

The guitar in the "Fade" video looks quite interesting... i'm not a big fan of the S-Classic headstock, but with that extra-long scale length, mahogany body and string-through tailpiece, it must sound absolutely killer.
