What should I choose? - Boss DR-5 or Yamaha QY100

I am looking for a Sequencer to act as a bass player and a drummer for me, so that I can form a "1 man band" at home

I am going to choose between Boss DR-5 or Yamaha QY100

By reading the SPECIFICATIONS on their homepages
it seems that the QY100 is a better 1(16 tracks vs 4 tracks,768 vs 200 preset patterns ,384 vs 200 user patterns etc.)

But which one's bass and drum sounds better?

This is the first time for me to buy a sequencer .......can I use Cakewalk or Guitar Pro to write a song and then store in the sequencer to play with?

Thanks for helping.........forgive my ignorance...!

I haven't heard the Yamaha, but the DR-5 sounds are pretty good. *The different sounds can be modified a bunch of different ways too. *It would work good for a one man band situation.

If you want to hear some DR-5 samples, let me know and I'll see what I can dig up.

Regarding the use of Cakewalk to write the songs, and then use a DR-5 to play them......I don't know. *It has midi capability so I would guess that it's possible. *I always wrote the songs on the DR-5 and then saved them to an external disk drive.

Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions on the DR-5.

You can use a DR-5 as a tone generator for MIDI files if you map to it. *That's not it's strong point though, it only has 4 channels and doesn't have anywhere near the polyphony of a real synth or tone generator. *It also isn't GM compliant. *I use mine for this sometimes but if I had my computer set up when I bought it, I would have bought a decent tone generator instead. *If you are going to do the writing on the computer I would suggest an Alesis MicroSynth or Roland JV-1010 or something along those lines.
