WHAT SHOULD I GET!!!!!!!????

Im about to go out of my mind here. Right now, Im in quite a pickle. But atleast its a good pickle.
I have a bunch of stuff Im selling.......drumsets, clavinovas, guitars, etc. Im going to get lots of money. I will be buying a guitar or 2 and a new amp. The question is what?
First problem: Sell my 87 RG550, or keep it and mod it? This is hard. I could do so much and it could be so awesome.

Second: Id like a JS AND a UV. I plan on getting two guitars, so if I keep my 550, Ill be getting one. Either get a 1400 buck JS1000 (minus 400 cuz my bud works at a guitar center and gets killer deals) or my buddies UV for a grand. So yes, both are a grand. Ive also considered getting a JS2000 over one of those. So Ive got 4 choices as far as guitars go. I will not have enough cash to get 3 (or 2 if I keep my 550.)

Third: AMPS!! I need a nice solid state 2x12 combo, so Im considering the Carvin SX. Id also like to get me a nice tube half stack...Ive narrowed it down to a Carvin Legacy or V3, or Peavey JSX. I cant decide!!

Ill try to describe my musical style(s) to assist you with assisting me haha. Im a huge Satch/Vai fan obviously, but dont just want their stuff to be them...thats not it at all really. I love both their tones, and their styles, and their gear just happens to be the stuff that I like!! Im also hugely into BLS and Maiden, and really anything that ranges from hard and heavy to fluid and melodic...Im also a big jazz blues fan, I love fusion, and Im a classical junky. So, basiclly, I need really good warm fat sustaining screaming lead and rythm tone, and crisp beautiful fluid clean tone, and reverb (though the jsx dont got it...oh well). So please any suggestions or what not, just help me out. I want to get a big vote, even if this is "my choice"...Id like to see what you all think. Thanks alot in advance dudes!!

1: NEVER sell a 550! You take that to your grave.....unless, of course, you wanna give it to ME. hehe.

2: Not a satch fan or a JS fan, so I can't really comment. I'd opt for the UV.

3: I think you are right on track with those amp selections. Out of the tube amps, I'd go with the Legacy. Heard bad things about the V3, and I think the overall tones of the legacy are superior to the JSX, even though I am a fan of the JSX. Plus, with your styles, I'd think it would suit them , better.

Just my 2 cents.

Well given the situation, I would hands down support buying a new amp and new guitar.

+1 It will appreciate, so even holding off selling it would be beneficial, but it's a great guitar, keep it!

If you like satch and iron maiden, maybe go for a Marshall JCM900? I believe both satch and vai have used them at one stage to get their sound, and they are pretty versatile for rock/metal

Here's my opinion. If you really want a JS and a UV, and selling your 550 is the only way it's going to happen, and your really not attached to it, then sell.

Sometimes you just have to part with guitars to aquire new ones, or be very patient and save. You have to ask yourself what the 550 is really worth to you.

That's EXACTLY why I told him to keep the 550. I've sold TONs of guitars to afford a new one, and in many cases, I wished I still owned the previous guitars, specifically, an RG550! DOH!
550s are one of the best guitars, ever, in my book, as well as many others. Work around it, but keep it.

Haha I guess Ill keep the 550!! Unless of course Racer...how much would you be willing to spend? haha. I think I decided on the UV today during study hall today....I did a big comparison on it and the JS, and it seems more worthwhile. Ive narrowed it down to the Legacy or V3, and both definitly with V30s. I think Ill order both, and then compare, and then send back the one I dont like. Im deciding about getting a 2x12 cab for the head I choose, or a nice solid state combo...I still think the SX is a nice choice though. I need some help on that part! Im not too familiar with SSs.

Skip the V3. Last I heard they were STILL having problems with those things. Quite honestly, I've heard sound clips of it, on Carvin's site, and was not impressed at all. Too buzzy ro something. The Legacy I liked.
By the way, notice, before (referring to the 550), I said "give" it to me, not sell it. hehe.

Good advice here. Keep the 550. Get the UV and a Legacy. That was easy.

Yeah I think Im gonna get a Legacy and see if I like it...I love that whole "10 days" thing. So cool! And yeah Im gonna mod my 550.....Ive got a few posts up about that. And Im gonna try and get that UV...what a dream that axe is! And I think my parents are gonna get me 1 present for my 16th bday, and thats a shopping spree at guitar center!! Thatll be very cool. So what about solid state combos? Or maybe just get a Legacy and 2x12 cab? Cuz the SX sounds pretty tasty too....
