Re: What wah to get?

Someone here said so in concert review or I may have read it at vai.com forums. But because he plays the audience is listening quite often now, that is quite probable. But I really don't think he uses bh right now.

I tried one a couple years ago at GC and it has replaced my BH-1 on my main pedal board. It's a modeling wah that is loaded with simulations of the BH, Cry Baby, Vox, a modern Boss wah, a "voice wah" that produces a vowel-like effect and a custom dual resonance wah. A "wah range" control allows you to program the sweep and tone of each one to your taste. It also has a nice Uni-Vibe, rotating speaker effect built in, as well as 8 different distortions. I keep the drive of the distortion turned off on mine. It has 3 memory slots that allow you to program settings for a different wah or other effect into each one. Set your most used sound into the main control and with 3 more stored in memory, you have instant access to 4 different sounds at your command.

If you're looking for a versatile and dependable wah pedal at a reasonable price, look no further. I have been gigging with mine for 2 years and it hasn't failed me yet. It is also true bypass and silent switching. Definitely give it a try.

My post may sound like a Boss advertisement, but I feel that they've hit a grand slam on this one.

I've got a PW-10 and am really pleased with it. The versatility is great you can get loads of different wah sounds plus the uni vibe, voice and drive

As usual for Boss it's build like a brick sh!thouse -

Re: What wah to get?

fettouhi, I was partly right, Steve did take his crybaby on tour to use during the audience is listening but he uses the bad horsie as well. I don't know if his bh is modified I will ask that as well.

Go out and get the original Crybaby. There's a reason they're still around!

Thanks for all the input everyone, I have brought a cry baby CGB95 and am waiting for it to be shipped. Looking forward to testing it out though.

The Bad Horsie was a good modern sounding wah.

If you want a classic wah though you have to get a Vox (the standard $99 model or the Clyde Mccoy, either is fine!). Trust me there is no other classic wah that isn't a half ass copy.
i Have pics of Vai's pedal board i will post up, from when i went to the evo experience, he plays an original crybaby on his board, and he has a bad horsie II about 4 or five feet from his board to the right ( i guess so when he wanders around the stage he can hit that real quick, or maybe as a backup. But in my opinion being a crybaby player, i think vai knows they sound better and did the bad horsie for the money!! I mean its obvious when he has an original crybaby on his own pedal board! ( oh by the way he took his ds-1 off of it and only uses a tubescreamer now.) sucks cause i was gonna ask him about the ds-1. He said he wanted to change it up a bit. Obviously a crybaby isn't "WEAK".
