What wah-wah to get at Guitar Center? Need answer soon!

Hey all. I own a 7VWH and for Christmas my girlfriend is getting me my first wah-wah pedal! Should I get it from Guitar Center? I know they charge you up the boobinga there, but she wants to get it within the next day! I really like that Hendrixy wah sound. What type model of wah did he use? There are tons of dunlop pedals and I am not sure which one is the one to get. What pedal would you get for 150 dollars or so? Unfortunately I can't go to Guitar Center because I have work all day tommorow, so I am going on other people's word here. If I really hate it I can always return it. If it is really a horrible idea to purchase from Guitar Center, where else should I go? My girlfriend is willing to get it after the holiday if she has to. Thanks a TON for information regarding this. I am really lost here!

Well if she REALLY loves you, have her get a Boss V-Wah (PW-10) . It's not the best single tone wah, but it's danm good and gives you a bunch of different tones to choose from. When you figure out what you REALLY want, you can go buy a boo-teek pedal for that specifc tone. The V-wah ain't cheap, but you get a lot of variety fer yer cash.

See these too....

Teese Real McCoy wah. $175. Classic tone. True bypass. 'nuff said.

Dunlop wahs suck the sheite out of your tone. Well the standard crybaby is fairly easy to mod to true bypass. I had a 535 and wasn't too happy with it, although it states to have a "hard wire bypass"... Don't go for the mumbojumbo, TBP or no wah for me.

Why? I've sold my BH1 because it wasn't possible to adjust it to my taste and pickups. BH2 changes this.

id say if its your 1st wah then the boss v-wah is the way 2 go. i

love mine i use it with a morley clasic and i cant say enough good things about it, its crybaby sound is v close and the morley bad horsie sound isnt as good as it could have been but still allright.

also it has lots of dist and od opions built in so u cna leave all your other dist pedals and amp od free for other stuff rather than gettin them 2 sound just right with the wah.

you can't beat a simple crybaby...
If you wanna spend a couple bucks more, you can go with the 535q which is an adjustable wah with 6 settings and a"q" adjustment that selects the range you want. Like the DCR in a single pedal form.

Hope this helps,

I would say either a Crybaby (any of them really), a Bad Horsie II, or the V-Wah. My friend's Vox sounds ok too.

Imho, the Morley Bad Horsie is good for distortion sounds and it's nice not to have to toe the pedal down to activate it. The B.H. doesn't sound too hot for clean wah, though.
I *do* like the tone of an original Crybaby but yeah it does kill your tone when it's not engaged.
Opposite of the Morley Bad Horsie, I like the Vox re-issue for clean wah sounds but not so much for distortion.

Maybe also check out the Bad Horsie 2 and the Dunlop 535Q, depending on how much she wants to spend.

Vox wah excels for a classic-rock wha, I like it better that my Morley and my CryBaby. However for high gain stuff I wouldn't reccomend the vox. What to buy?
1- Trust your ears above all else.
2- Try dunlop 535Q, Bad Horsie I or II, Fulltone, Snarling Dog.
3- Guitar Player mag had a good wha review a few months ago look it up.

Let us know what you decide on...

Amen to that. If you want the Hendrix sound, you really need to start with a Crybaby of some sorts.

I've had a Crybaby 95Q and 535Q in my rig as well as a Bad Horsie. Although I like the Bad Horsie for soloing, it has a rather un-traditional wah tone to it. If I could only have one wah based on tone, it'd have to be the 535Q. With the selectable range and adjustable boost button, it's one of the most versatile wahs out there.

I asked my lovely girlfriend to get me the Boss V-wah because the several different tones that can be achieved by it attracted me. I'd rather start with a variety of tones than to get one pedal and not be happy with it, I suppose. I think she may have gotten me it, i'm not sure though. I will have to find out tommorow! I'll tell you all how I like it.
