Whats the Marshall JCM amp for raw sounds?

Whats the rawest sounding Marshall JCM head that is cheap (2nd hand including) Im looking to get a cheap raw sounding Marshall head to go on top of a Marshall 212" cab. I have some idea that a Marshall JCM800 and a JCM900 SL-X would be raw sounding (well good for metal) but i need a cheap Marshall head. Customize ideas on cheap Marshall would help too but i want it to be either the shape of a JCM or a plexi. I remember reading a Zakk Wylde interveiw were he said that he used to buy a Marshall JCM500 head and put 6550 valves in.

any of the jcm series basically will make a great raw soundin amp. Typically tube marshalls are not going to be cheap though so you may want to shop around your local pawn shops just to see what theyve got

i was thinking of a JCM900 head and putting 6550 tubes (like Zakk Wylde) and then put it on a cheap 412" and a Marshall 212" that ive got so i'll have the bass sound from the 412 and the high end sound from my 212"!

Dude Ive always thought "cheap" cabinets sound like pooh. Its all in what your looking for though . Im personally in the market for a nice jcm2000. Someday hopefully. Some rackmount line6 gear and a nice jcm to use as a power amp. Tube tone with line6 versatility. Gotta love it.

i like the look of a JCM2000 DSL100 head. Does anyone know if it sounds like a JCM900 head. Alot of people say that the JCM900 head and 412" cab is rubbish but i've recently found out it was used by Korn (munky/Head) when they couldn't afford Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifiers. Aparently when the 3 channel Rectiiers came out, Korn got the old 2 channel ones 2nd hand so they could afford them. The actuall ybought 2 triple Rectifers and 2 Marshall 1960AV Cabs and loaaded them with Vintage 30 celestions....funny thing is they actually used the JM900s a bit more becuase they liked the raw sound that they made!
