I had a TC Flashback, just the single version. It sounded awesome and did a bunch of
delay
types plus looping. Only reason I got rid of it was for extra Christmas money and I knew it would sell fast, I might buy another.

I use Fulltone Tube Tape Echo at work, great delay for recording.
There is a sound clip on their website.
http://www.fulltone.com/products/tube-tape-echo
Nothing beat real tape delay.

I wouldn't want to depend on a delay pedal unless it had tap tempo.

Re: What's your favorite Delay for Live and Recording? Pedals especially?
Picked up the Flashback x4 last month. Can't say enough good about it. Holds three foot switchable presets, tap tempo, about ten delays to include modded versions of the carbon copy analog and 2290 delays, 40 sec looper, easy to dial knobs, quarter/dotted eight/combined quarter and dotted eight rhythm selector switch, and four delay banks easily programmable through an iPhone app (thus the x4 in the name).
Best delay tones I've heard in awhile. Presets are very handy if you're going to be switching between parts in a song. Very versatile w true stereo outs and midi capable. Only two real drawbacks - cost (249.00), and amount of space it takes on your pedalboard.
My wife was listening live recently and said it sounds like a different guitar up there (in a good way, of course!)

Re: What's your favorite Delay for Live and Recording? Pedals especially?
I might as well ask here instead of starting a new topic, but I was actually curious - do you guys have a favorite delay pedal that would be good for someone who would like to spend $120 or less? Preferably one that's analog. I already have the Hardwire Delay, and it's a phenominal digital delay, which I use for looping and for times where I want to trigger a certain effect, but I really want a solid analog delay pedal that I can use just to thinken up my tone when it's engaged.
Thanks!

Just get an EHX Memory Boy ($122) up to 550 ms delay time.

Look for some of these used and you should be able to get under $120. For my money, it's the Hardwire DL8 or the Flashback.

If you're on a budget, I'd get one of these:
If you want to get more high end, I'd either get one of these:
Or one of these:
I have all those in my rack and they all serve different purposes quite well.
