Which 15w-20w All tube combo?
I am looking for a new 15-20w all
tube combo
to replace my Laney LC15R there is nothing wrong with the Laney and I'll probably keep that one as well, but what I am looking for is 12'' speaker (Laney: 10"), Reverb and two channels (Laney has only one). I was looking at a Mesa Studio Caliber the other day which sounded really nice.
What do you people recomend?

What about the Peavey Windsor Studio, price is right, and is designed so that you can switch in a number of different types of tubes without a need for re-biasing.

Hmmm... must try to find somewhere to test these to as well. Didn't think of the H&K...

Apart from H&K 20th which I am also interested in buying but couldn’t find any store to test it out in London, other alternative is Randall RM20 or RM50. Cool thing about Randall MTS series is you can change the pre-amp module and 12 modules to choose from

The Windsor Studio is still on hold as of now. Delays are most likely due to final clearance concerning safety issues at UL (Underwriters Laboratories).
The only retailer that has them in a catalog or online is Sweetwater. They were supposed to have them on January 6, but the release has been pushed back another 6 to 8 weeks.
I was trying to hold off and wait for the Studio, but it looks like I'm gonna have to save another $500 - $700 and step up to a Mesa F30, F50 or 5-50 Express.

I'm kind of curious to see what you guys come up with. I kind of like the idea of the Epiphone Valve Junior little all-
tube amp
, but I don't think this is what you're looking for.

How about a
Peavey Classic
20?
I know the Classic 30w has got a bit of poke for such a little amp. So I guess the Classic 20 would be the same!

Re: Which 15w-20w All tube combo?
I've been looking at the Krank Rev Jr 20wtt all-tube mini stack (with two 1x12 cabs and a chrome grill.....MMMMMmm). Not sure how easy it would be to find one of those on your side of the pond though.

Re: Which 15w-20w All tube combo?
Although it might be very interesting, I don't think that I could carry this thing around. A 12" combo is what I need.
The randall concept seems interesting but I see on their website that the RM20 only takes one module. I guess it means it is single channel or is there also a default clean channel to all these combinations? I must find the dealers of all these over here and find some time to test some combos...

RM20 is like Laney VC15, single channel but you can switch to boost (distortion) and also let you adjust boost level and gain. But if you are looking for two independent channels then RM50 or
Marshall DSL
401 is nearest choice.

Re: Which 15w-20w All tube combo?
So the Randall module series is still held in good regard? I know a few members here have sworn by them in the past so it is interesting to hear people still talking about them and using them. I remember Jim from American Hardcore talked highly about his and owned about every module out there and used it thru between 1 and 6 G-Flex 2x12 cabs at one point. (I'm starting to GAS for one of those Genz cabs AGAIN
).

Re: Which 15w-20w All tube combo?
If reverb isn't that big, Bad Cat Hot Cat 15, probably the best 15 watter ever made, the things this can do is basically endless. Expensive though, but will blow your mind away, ~1.2k on **** 2079 new. Quite loud for 15 watts though, being it class A.
If you want to stay cheap Laney's Lionheart, Its 5 watts, but also class A so will be louder than AB. Or have a look at Laneys VC-15, both very nice amps for the money.

It has a 10W mode. You can't do better than this for under $1K.
